Andrade is a dangerous fight for anyone anywhere from 160-175 so I'm not entirely sure what you guys are getting at here. Of course he'd whoop a green Andre Dirrell..he whoops pretty much any of the top guys at 168 except for Kessler and Bute (and he came close on the last one).

Dirrell is a promising young prospect. Showtime JUST lost Chad Dawson to HBO so of course, they're going to be VERY protective of Dirrell. I don't like it anymore than anyone else...but they're going to be very careful because in terms of "home grown" fighters, he's all they got.

Let's not forget that Dirrell is far from a finished product. We saw what happened when he was put in there with a legit punching prospect in Curtis Stevens, he ran like Jesse Owens. He also has occasional lapses in focus which need to be corrected.

They're taking it slow and perhaps that's not a bad thing right now.

I think the people in this thread need to stop cryin. Banks isn't a bad opponent, he did ge knocked out by Miranda but he fought close with Manfredo and was robbed in his other losses. If he fight's a non world class fighter after this than you can crticize him.

Same thing for Ward both of these guys are talented and should be fighting for a title by the end of the year. I have no idea why these guys never get any decent fights.

Not rushing Dirrell isn't the problem.

Showtime putting Dirrell-Banks on their network is.

Showtime doesn't have to put this on the air.

Or they could have atleast not made it the main event.

Maybe the opening fight with a legit main event would have been the right way to go.

Dirrell-Banks is strictly an ESPN level fight.

Dirrell is doing fine. They saw that he had a ton of technical flaws and I think they opted to slow the pace as a result. Still, he's only 26 and probably in his next bout will step up in class, and then at the end of the year or early 2010 he'll fight for a title.

Is that so bad for 27-years old?

Taylor got the first Hopkins fight at 27, and Kessler held a belt but had fought only Mundine by then. And Mikkel was a polished fighter at an earlier age.

Adrian Diaconu is the one you need to worry about. He has not meaningful victories and is over 30.

Ward just turned 25. He has all kinds of time.

Never really understood the hype around Dirrell. Wouldn't be surprised if someone like Miranda sparked him, though i don't expect him to be matched with anyone dangerous.

Thing is though you guys shouldn't take that out on Andre Dirrell. It's not like he has any say on this either way.

Goosen and Showtime should be taken to tasks if anyone...but if it's a showbox event that I can't complain. Shobox the Next Generation is all about this sort of craperoo.

Blasphemy! If anyone gets sparked, it's the chinny Miranda. Dirrell would box circles around this guy with his eyes closed.
