According to boxrec he came in at around 193 pounds for his fight against Ruiz. How does this version of Jones do against...

    Jack Dempsey
    Floyd Patterson
    Rocky Marciano
    Sam Langford
    Max Schmeling
    Jersey Joe Walcott
    Ezzard Charles
    Gene Tunney

    ???

I don't see him beating many of those......... however, it should be noted that almost all of his opponents at LHW weighed 185-190bs by fight night. He spent most of his career time as a classical heavyweight.

Jones could beat most of those guys. Marciano would have been tough, but Jones punches would bust up Rocky's face.

I can't see him beating any of them. 15 rounds with the same training facilities, he loses them all

I think a 1994-1998 circa RJJ does better than the 2003 RJJ, who was not nearly as athletic by that stage and in the coasting stage of his career

Never, Walcott was too smart and powerful even more unorthodox then Jones. And Patterson is the worst style for him he very difficult to finish has great power and is one of the few heavy who could probably match a 2003 rjj's speed.

Patterson would murder him, that guy is absolute poison for Jones.

I give him his best chance against Charles.

i jsut think walcott is oen of the weakest their and he has a chance because he is fast and powerful and could out speed walcott but the fight ould be close real close maybe a draw. maybe im completly wrong here though

patterson i gave jones a chance as Patterson is suscepitapal to hard shots and RJJ's speed and power could prove abit too much for him. but i would love Patterson to beat him though

Possibly Schmeling and Charles but I seriously doubt he would.

The thing is, Jones of the Ruiz fight is probably past his absolute best.

So putting him in with ATG fighters who have fought 190 pound plus men plenty seems a little unfair.

Jones-Marciano would have been a great fight.

Over 12 I think Jones could decision him.

    Absolutely.

Testimant to how great the guy truly is that we are matching him up with ATG 190 lb or so fighters when past his best and a natural 168.

It wasn't just a weight issue though, I mean JOnes had slowed down by the time he fought Ruiz. He flat out didn't have the footspeed he used to.
