I wonder if the distaste for the Klits is a hangover from the soviet era - a kind of Drago effect. Just from the board that is. Or is it that they shake up the notion of the superior black athlete that people have come to take for granted. I hate eugenics which is why i love to see athletes and public figures defy commonly held beliefs about genetics. WHite spinters and black swimmers........i believe environment is the number one factor in athletic success. How else can you explain the success of aussies and kiwis in certain sports. It's the facilities, training and culture. AFter all they are descended from the same stock as the brits, irish and other europeans.

I was a fan of this sport before there were any Poles and almost all white fighters sucked.

Me being a hardcore Adamek fan has alot to do with the void Golota left.I dont strictly root for Poles although it is nice to have at least 1 relevant fighter.Support and blind nationalism are 2 different things.

As far as race goes i honestly dont see how you can be white a fan of boxing and be racist.Wrong sport to be a fan of for the white racist. It has been dominated by minorities for years.

that's understandable, but there really isn't and probably never will be a bunch of pollocks in every division dominating from time to time....if there was, you would see the difference....:good

but as of right now, adamek is leagues above golota.....

Bottom line is...out of the average Joe's I've talked to in Texas, Cali, NY and Vegas, it seems us here in Vegas know the most. Maybe because we all bet fights and live in a city that much of our history is founded on the sport.

Im English and half cast. But I always root for the English/British fighter unless its one of my Fav fighters. I think Nationality plays a bigger part than race.

People usually follow up nationality and patriotism with racism when they cannot argue a point or their fighter loses.

But when you come from a small country likr England and even smaller, say Puerto Rico, then you tend to really defend your own. Mainly because you know your a minority, especially when the boxing industry is dominated by the USA market in terms of tv and fights there.

It means the whole of Boxing. Not a lot of Brothas rooting for Oscar de la Hoya. Not a lot of Latinos cheering for Floyd Jr. Put Mickey Ward and Gatti in the ring and it's the Fighting Irish against the Italianos. Oscar wont show his face at a Julio Jr. card because he will get booed out of the Arena and spat on. And no folks who love RJJ love Julio Jr. All of Boxing is like a copy of "Jungle Fever"
