unification means nothing in this division ... its stacked with good players ... just because a guy has all the belts or has a majority, still can be disputed --

DLH just seemed like "f_ck it, as long as I made some money & the fans were satisfied, I'm good."

Most recently Juan Diaz adopted that attitude ... "I just got caught, what more can I say ..."

I 100% disagree on a more profound level. By simply assessing a fighter only by his record your ingorning nuance and context. If that was the case and Lorenzo's win was upheld over Soto then the simple result doesn't explain the story. That's the danger of only assessing the absolutes in sports. If Cotto comes back to dominate Margo then does his first loss to continue to get scrutinized? Yes he lost but there's much contraversy surrounding that fight. By avenging his loss in impressive fashion Cotto in conquering a doubt and a possible demon thus the victory becomes even more triumphant. It also makes for a better story for the fans. I personally believe Pac's loss to EM was the best thing that could have happened because it spawned a trilogy that gave us viewers something to talk about which consequently helped Pac's career. The same thing could be said if Cotto is vilified in a possible rematch.

n thidivision, unification means a lot. to unify in a division like this, definetely means you're doing something right

Assessing a fighter based on his record is stupid, I agree. But the only thing I said is when you take a L, you're thrown into a category that most of fighters are already in, you've been defeated before. But a real champ knows how to come back from a loss. Coming back after a defeat is very impressive too.

What about avenging your losses? Lennox Lewis is an example that he beat every man he faced. Some dont even try to avenge them....

well said, the important thing is for a fighter to get revenge...remember that lewis-rahman doesn't need a trilogy despite being 1-1 because lewis can just claim that he had an off night...

by the same reason why im disappointed with the delahoya-mosley 2nd fight..DLH should have make an easy work of mosley but it just shows that oscar doesn't have in him to be like sugar leonard

Much props to Mosley trying to avenge his losses. Much props.
You can't always win, sometimes you gotta take a L. If I was the type to judge fighters based on their records, SSR would be a journeymen IMO.

Sports= drama; at least compelling sports do and a trilogy between Oscar and Mosley would have been epic. The drama that's surrounding Cotto-Margarito makes for good sports and that's why I'm for a rematch. I happen to think Cotto would dust him too. :yep

If that iron chin hasn't come back, he gets f_cked up. This is a win win situation for Cotto.

cotto can just challenge margarito NOW at the lowest point in margarito's career...let the fight be in puerto rico since margarito is suspended in the US.

i just can't see the logic why arum do not let that happen NOW

Because AM just came off a loss, and Cotto just came off a tune up. They need to build some hype again before they face eachother.

The hype is in the controversy and that's very much still fresh on peoples minds. I think if the fight were to happen tomorrow then it would have a lot luster and could probably get commerical sports coverage.
