Mayweather was playing with that dude, man. Never in any danger. The moment Mayweather realized Ricky wasn't gonna be as dangerous as everyone was trying to make him out to be, he started beating the breaks off of him. And it wasn't even close...

I totally agree. Hatton gave Floyd a very tough the first six rounds. He showed he had the speed, quickness and power to give Floyd some problems. I think he KO's Manny, though it should be a good fight till then...

I think Hatton was doing very well in the first 6 rounds. Mayweather was using fouling and dirty tactics but I do believe its because everyone knows that Hatton is a rough house fighter on the inside. Not hating on Ricky, that **** doesnt bother me, its just his style.

The first 6 rounds were close until Mayweather had Hatton figured out. After that, I think it was all Mayweather. I dont think the point deduction was what changed the fight. I think it was Mayweathers ability to take over a fight after a few rounds. He has always done that. He figurees guys out and takes over. Thats his M.O.

Rematch at 140 with a different ref and you see a different fight, a much more closer fight but I think Floyd may edge a UD, just

that fight is one of the most mis-remembered fights! Hatton had Mayweather very worried for the first few rounds, then Cortez interfered and Hatton lost his head! Now i think Mayweather would of beaten Ricky anyway, but not by KO! definitely not by KO.....and it would of been a close one for Mayweather with Ricky coming out of it with an improved reputation!

Mayweather has too much skill for Ricky.....

I disagree that mayweather was playing with Hatton. Hatton had him looking very uncomfortable for the first half of the fight. But Mayweather kept cool, hatton didn't, and when that happened..... it wasn't close.

As I've said, if hatton can pressure Manny like he did mayweather (or better) then I see Manny hitting the deck. Thats the whole point of this thread guys......:p

First things first, i will openly point out that i am a massive Hatton fan. I love to watch him fight, have met him a few times, really like the guy and lets face it, love him or hate him he is great to watch!

I was so excited about the Mayweather fight and i actually believed Hatton was gonna do it. Not because he is better, or because im deluded, i just believed it was gonna be his night. I was saying before, 9 times out of 10, mayweather wins but that night was gonna be "the 1"!

The thing i accepted straight after is that Mayweather is a genius. He knew what he was gonna do all along. All his arms up, ducking down behaviour were frustrating from such a fighter, but ultimately it was his plan for Hatton. He knew that would beat him. It was all a gameplan that he and roger masterminded and pulled off to perfection.

In one of the 24/7 episodes i watched in horror with a friend and said "Im still gonna back Hatton, but Mayweather knows what he is gonna do!" I dont know if anyone else will recall....or maybe post a video, but in one of the episodes there is a scene where Floyd and Roger are in the ring and Floyd says "Throw me a Hatton punch"....Roger throws a slow-mo looping right and Floyd shifts to his left and throws a slow-mo left. I said to my friend as we watched that "Its all over" and explained to him. We had just seen the now infamous "Check-hook". I look back and see it as an Ali-esque prediction from Floyd. Needless to say, my friend was amazed come fight night and his jaw dropped as Rickys face bounced off the ring post. "You said that!!!"
Still, beforehand my pride got the better of me believing that it would be Ricky's "1" night.....so im not blowing my own trumpet too much!

My point is in all this, Ricky wasnt too far away, but lost his head. Why....because of Floyds masterplan. Cortez wasnt great i know....but Floyd played him and Hatton to perfection.

I was at the Manchester press conference a week ago for Hatton v Pac. I love Pac too and cant take anything away from the guy. He is a better boxer than Hatton......but Hatton will beat Pac! Not with great ease, but not with great difficulty. He is too big (yes....i am even taking into account the current Guiness chub on him) but come fight night he will still be too big and strong for Pac. Also....Hatton is not as bad as his haters say! He will also not let an opponents gameplan get to him again! Ive admitted that im a big Hatton fan, but im a big boxing fan. This is pretty clear cut for me. Lets put my neck out....Hatton will stop Pac!

I know ive just had a "rant" that i predicted the Mayweather fight....but this is not a big headed prediction. Its an opinion.

Also of note....I would love to see a Hatton v Mayweather rematch. Great spectacle, great event, great monies for both.....improved fight from Hatton....SAME OUTCOME.
Although i will still bet on Hatton, like i said, "1 in 10"....well next time would be his "1"!

    I love this sport! Haha!

I agree with general consensus of the posts. The fight was close in the sense that while Mayweather definitely won most of the rounds before the knockout, the rounds themselves were closer than expected. In the first six, the rounds that mayweather won, he had to work hard for. Scoring wise, no I don't think ricky was winning or could win but it was competitive all the same. The ref was **** but didn't affect the outcome TOO much, Floyd used some shady tactics but i've seen MUCH worse and really it's part of the game. I love ricky but he went in with one battle plan: floyd showed me he had a plan a-d and his in-fighting was some of the best i've seen in a long time.

he was back peddling because he was setting traps for Ricky, Traps that Ricky fell for each and every time. he would step back only to set ricky up for a straight right or left hook, punches that would magically hit Ricky directly in the face each and every time.
