I'm not sure why some are saying Mayweather-Hatton 2 when their first bout didn't even reach 1m. Pacquiao-Hatton may get close but I doubt it. I only see Pacquiao-Mayweather as a true possibility.
well off the mark :nono hatton had 1.3 million in the UK alone at 5 in the morning.......??!!?? no one has near his following when it comes to PPV buys
well in total that's 2.2 million PPV buys, pretty impresive. says alot bout their drawing power PBF, Hatton and Pac are the big gun:gun
Trinidad vs Oscar....Oscar is done but everyone knows him..the "casual fan" (the one thats not here on esb) still thinks oscar and tito are decent and don't really know that there pretty much done...I believe OSCAR VS TITO would do 1 million buys!
Cotto-Margo did 500K so it's not out of the realm of possibility that a better hyped sequel complete with all the little storylines weaved in could do in the 1 mil range. That said I think you nailed it on Oscar-Trinidad.
If foreign PPV numbers are counting too, I think a lot of Hatton fights... Pac, Floyd, Marquez, Cotto, Mosley... Of course Pac Floyd.. Hell... If Amir Khan Beats Barrera, A fight between him and Hatton would do a million alone in Brittain..
The sport needs more visible fighters that are marketable. DLH is good looking and a good promoter. That sells. Hatton has a nation behind him, that says it all. Manny too, although many in the Philippines can't afford $50 for boxing. Same with Cotto but Puerto Rico is small. The US does not have one fighter left that can generate that type of hype, that has the image, or the 'brand name.' Mayweather can but it depends on his opponent. Mayweather just simply doesn't have the aura of a Tyson or Ali and that is what is needed. Manny, Hatton and Cotto do have that aura in their home nations.
pac vs flloyd for def. in the uk hatton does have a massive fanbase but with the recession hitting i dont see him pulling in 1m + buys again.
