Yeah, expect for fluidity of combination punching, defense, fundamental technique, and overall skill... but yeah, other than that I guess kirkland is far superior in every way.
I was actually gonna put this thread up and ask if anyone thought this would be a future world title fight. Both are destructive fighters and there is no way it would go twelve. Kirkland is ahead of Angulo in terms of development but I can see it happening at some point. It's good to have these two in the light-middleweight division.
Yeah he'd beat the crap outta Angulo who didn't impress over a WW in Cosme. Angulo is slow as ****, plodding has average power and wide open. Kirland is to aggressive and strong for Angulo. Not to mention he stopped Julio a guy who I would favor over Angulo. Angulo and Kirland would trade bombs and Kirkland would come out on top due to his faster handspeed and better power.:deal
Well Kirkland doesn't impress me much... and in a war where both guys are coming straight forward throwing bombs at each other, I'll favor the guy with the more solid technique versus the guy who uses his face as a defensive mechanism.... but we'll see soon enough who the better man is. Something tells me that HBO is ready to make this fight happen now.
Kirkland will always beat a guy like Angulo because of his physical and stylistic advantages over him. Angulo comes to fight and is there to be hit. Kirkland would be schooled by a defensive counter-puncher someone like Spinks would give him a boxing lesson. Angulo isn't the man to do it but like you said they are on a collision course.
What stylistic and physical advantage do you speak? Both are strong and powerful dudes who come straight at you trying to take your head off. Seems to me like they're made for each other because I see no contrast of styles here. And a defensive counterpuncher would bother both.
I just don't know who would win this kind of fight. Both will be landing bombs all night and the one with the best chin and heart will win.
Both are aggressive pressure fighters who come to take your head off and when dealing with that. I tend to favor the guy who has the faster hands the ability to beat the other guy to the punch. Also Kirkland I believe has more power. I believe Kirlalnd most of the time will get the better in the exchanges because of this. He's also the stronger guy. Julio could fight as a MW and he was pushing him around the ring like nothing.
Nah, Julio is too small for 154. The guy was already soft for 147 and for whatever reason he decided to move up to jr. middle where he's looked small against every opponent I've seen him in there with. If Kirkland and he were more similar in size those right hands that Julio was landing would have had much more affect than they did. Anyway, Angulo isn't all that slow himself. I mean his hands aren't that fast, but he actually puts his combinations together prety damn well which might overtake any handspeed advantage that Kikland might have, but we'll see. I don't see any significant power advantage for anyone here either. Both are heavy handed, but neither can KO you with one shot. They're about even in that category I'd say. I'll give you the chin though as many people are saying Kikland has a better one, I didn't like how badly rocked Angulo was from a single left hook from Gutierrez a while back.
