Calzaghe did it at super-middleweight which is a relatively new division. Lightweight, along with welterweight, is probably one of the most stacked divisions in history. What you're saying is Khan'll be as good as Duran, Pea, B.Leonard, Ross, Armstrong, JCC, Gans, Canzoneri et al. Doubt Khan will end up being Britain's greatest ever lightweight. It'll take something really special to surpass Ken B, Watt and Welsh
I will admit that at the beginning i didnt like khan but it was his own country that hyped him up he got an olympic silver when he was only 17 which is an outstanding achievement but his ethnicity shouldnt be a factor for all the hate.
So why didnt you like him? You said yourself it was his country that hyped him up. What can he do about that? Also hating him for his chin is as pathetic and childish as bullying someone for being ginger. Ethnicity shouldnt be a factor but after hearing numerous comments on the boards and from work colleagues I definitely think it has a part to play. The satisfaction of people who dont even follow boxing at seeing him get beat was eye-opening. They hadnt heard his cocky, but typical boxing style comments and were not intelligent enough to think of hype as an issue. But these middle class boys were still so happy to see him lose. The ego doesnt help though!
khan did offer the fight to thaxton, they offerd him a career high purse and he turned it down. thats a fact.
