And I know it is a big if. Should he be given a shot at JMM for a world title as Fwank suggests he might? Even though every man and his dog knows that JMM would smash Khan to bits...
No way should kahn get a title fight of this one. Barrera has done **** at lightweight. He needs another top contender before even being consider unless he goes through the WBO way :thumbsup
No, he shouldn't. Why should he? Beating a 35 year old that has done zero at lightweight makes you eligible for a title shot a couple of fights after getting KO'd in one round by a nobody? But then again, boxing does not work like that. Khan wouldn't even be getting this fight if things were morally correct, as it is the above reasons would probably support Khan getting a title shot.
no way, thats ridiculous! Frank would never allow it anyway (against Marquez or any top lightweight anyway) as Kahn is not yet ready, plus another bad loss and his career is in serious serious trouble! Plus he has not proven himself to anyway near the standard needed to get a shot at someone like Marquez.... Might go for a european title though, against weak opponent....
I totally agree with all of you guys, it would be very unfair if it did happen. But that is the wacky boxing world we live in at the moment thanks for FW.
Abit of hippocracy on this board, as everybody is happy with haye and his demands after doin **** all at hweight!! But back to point, no i dont think khan deserves a title shot, plus its way too soon for him
Khan getting a title shot because he is a bit of a household name is a bit absurd. There are many other fighters have done more things to deserve a title shot, but still they haven't got a chance. This is why sanctioning bodies are full of sh*t. They better give the fighters who can make more money for the sanctioning body rather than fighters who are more deserving from their talents. If Khan is getting a title shot should he win 2-4 more fights against top contenders and prove to others that he ain't glass chinned. ADD: Even if he did beat Barrera, still not enough. 2-4 more before even a proper title match to get.
Haye has done plenty of good **** in the world of boxing, Khan has done **** in general. The comparison is not really apt. I agree with the ideology of having to work your way to a title shot though, no matter how **** the division is perceived to be. Mouthing off should not really cut it nor should having an influential promoter that pays off certain orgaizations.
The sanctioning bodies are in the pockets of people like Frank Warren and that is why things like this will continue to happen.
I say it again, and i will on everyone of these topic's. I am not even gonna watch the fight, Amir Khan will win easy.
