Kirkland reminds me more of Marvelous Marvin Hagler. Based on his aggressiveness and punching power.

Juan Diaz.... A KO waiting to happen? If Kirkland was such a KO waiting to happen, puncher Julio would have KO'd him because he can punch and he landed clean. Delvin Rodrigurez, Amir Kahn, are KO's waiting to happen. And the Diaz comparison... Kirklands heavy hands have much more of an effect when he hits his opponents- no comparison.

Only someone who doesn't understand boxing would make such statements

Thats pretty fair assumption both are tough, very strong, and willing to bang. Are you saying Marvin Hagler was a sissy, very weak, and scared of a fight.

The pressure that both apply onto their opponents is the common denominator however that's where the comparisons end.

julio could have done way better if he would have stopped running backwards. kirkland reminds me of jeff lacy to be honest, and we all know what happened when he faced a good boxer who knew how to move and counter punch.

But Jeff Lacy never pressured his opponents. Even his early fights he just threw about 10 punches per round. Kirkland does not let up on his opponents. He just keeps coming.

There have been plenty of fighters who operate on sheer aggression and making the opponent wilt. Kirkland is one of those guys and yes, he is fun to watch. The problem is that he leaves himself way too open at times and a more disciplined fighter who isn't expending energy by backing up every second is gonna find a way to outmaneuver him and counter with something nasty.

Had Julio not been throwing half-ass haymakers he may have been able to land something big inbetween one of Kirkland's bursts. He actually managed to do so on a few occasions but his punches weren't thrown straight and they didn't seem to have the steam on them because his next move was to go backwards. Kirkland's got a good chin and toughness to boot but anyone can be stopped in their tracks. Julio wasn't the guy to beat Kirkland and I knew this going in. Forget the Quintana fight, I knew Julio was nothing special after seeing him barely beat Cosme Rivera. Kirkland will eat those "nothing special" fighters alive. That being said, he's still a damn exiciting fighter.

Diaz is a damn good boxer ... he doesn't have the relentlessness like Kirkland has --

I'm wondering about Kirkland though ... he has something that Diaz doesn't have and that is power and uncontrolled aggression.

I think Kirkland might be able to box as well, but elect not to because he has confidence in his chin and his offense.

Uncontrolled aggression will always let you down when you step up to the next level. Ask Michael Katsidis.
