I feel Valeros power will improve at this weight and he is a better fighter than people think. I do hope they insist on a vigorous mri health check as I really worry if he gets into a war with Marquez or Pac.
i don't think Valero will ever get to fight against Pac and Marquez. He will have to build his legacy if he can against the guys of his own generation
I quite like Edwin. After intially getting overrated, I think the backlash against him is a tad harsh. I think he could dominate, as the scenario PHILLA layed out is the most likely one. He will not get a shot at the elite fighters like Pac and JMM but he has a great chance against all the others that reside at 135. With Campbell gone, his chances of ruling have gone up.
I believe you're right. Pac and JMM are way above Valero's level in terms of stature and both are now fighting at the higher weight class . . . so he may never have chance to fight both . . . but Valero has a chance to rule 135. He is very capable . . . all he has to do . . . is go for the big fights immediately. :yep
the problem with ko artists is that even though they may be successful at a high level, there will always be someone out there who has a great chin and therfore will present a huge problem for them. sort of like darchinyan at 112. he walways had power but had spotty defense and ultimately he got caught with a good shot. now he's trying to develop the other aspects of his game and i think he could have a better run at 115 and 118. valero will be a pretty good champ but he will not dominate. there are a lot of fighters out there who could beat him
Yes there are a lot of fighters who could beat him . . . but if he did beat them and unify the belts and hold on to it for sometimes . . . that's domination. :yep It remains to be seen though.
He needs to fight first @ his Wt. Class against a breathing person, This century. But if by fantasy, he can dominate HW if he kept his Punching Power & grew some inches.
He is about to headline a card with a good chunk of the remaining lightweight talent fighting on it aswell. I would say he beats all of them quite clearly..with Casa still giving him a stylistic problem for a few rounds. Guzman is another dark horse, who on his day could beat anyone from 130-135 but he is career has hit a wall for now. Thats kind of the point...I think he could well dominate lightweight not so much because of how good he is but how weak lightweight will probably become in the next couple of years as the elite fighters are drained out of the division.
