I was rooting for Hatton, that fight. Ricky had some good early rounds, IIRC.

Floyd was just so darn slick and technical, RIcky couldnt land too many clean shots.

I was waiting for Hatton to land a big one and make Floyd do a Zab Judah dance.

Although, I'll be honest, I did kinda laugh when Ricky slammed his head on the turnbuckle.

I thought that Ricky's gonna be successful breaking Floyd down with his constant pressure, but Floyd was just so elusive defensively. If you do ever land a punch, he'll be able to block it or roll with it and wont be a solid shot.

Hatton landed some serious shots on him in the beginning, but after that, it became harder and harder for Ricky to hurt Floyd.

By the later rounds, I was thinking a haymaker's gonna be RH's best bet to beat FM. Maybe an attacking 3 punch combo where Floyd can successfully avoid the first 2 and get hit by the last one.

Floyd is insane with his D. When he gets hit, MOST (note the most) of the time he's ready for it and just takes it cause he can.

Im glad you don't blame weight.

I barely noticed him, honestly. Although I did watch this fight just one time, so I may have a fuzzy memory about some of the details in that fight.

Why, did the ref do something wrong in that fight?

Well, every Ricky fan or PBF hater is basically saying that Ricky only loss because the ref didn't allow Hatton to work inside how he usually does. The thing is, Hatton holds alot, and its really illegal to hold and punch. Now some refs allow it more than others, but its illegal at the end of the day. Now Hatton wasn't allowed to hold and hit in the fight against PBF, therefore Hatton fans/PBF haters say Hatton loss to the ref & PBF. Some ppl even believe PBF payed off the ref because at the end, the ref raised PBF's hand.

The ref raised Floyd's hand before the official result? I dont remember those details, really. I'll youtube it sometime, maybe.

Anyway, there are some refs that are quick to break clinches. In the "Thrilla in Manila", I think referee Carlos Padilla was one of those kinds of refs. He kept on pushing Ali's hands away from Frazier's body whenever Ali tried to clinch too often or too long.

Yes, when the announcer announces the decision, the fighter gets his hand raised. Hatton fans/PBF haters think because of that moment, the ref was payed off. But true, some refs do allow more holding than others.

did i? if you think that's getting owned you should get out more :-(

what i said was fact, i didn't say peurto ricans see themselves as american, but if there were to be any favouritsm between US or UK especially after booing the US national anthem i'm sure it would swing towards the US. in the case of cortez i'm not so sure it was a nationalistic bias, i don't know what it was but it was bias. but i don't think the ref changed the result, but did have an impact on the fight especially early on.

And you really think Cortez was paying attention to how the fans were acting, and pulled some scandalous $hit like that on Hatton because of his fans? :patsch:patsch:patsch Get real, you bringing up this PR $hit made no sense and now you're getting owned for doing so.
