baby bull gave a great fight. Saying the cut was the cause of his loss is not correct. His ego lost it for him because with a little movement he could have boxed his way to victory. Although the judges had the fight even, as the younger man he should have moved a lot more instead of coming forward for the last half of the fight.
All in all, he has no reason to feel bad about this one. He lost to a highly regarded legend. I think the only "rematch" he might get is if he does rematch and beat a Nate Campbell and then, if the chips fall, positions himself once again as the champion to beat. Otherwise, as noted, Marquez is at a point in his career to go for the bigger names for a couple more years.

i seem to remember pac beat barrera worse than that, yet pac was gracious enough to give a rematch.

i am with pimpc on this, a rematch would be good. just not immediate.

oh and for uliuli's sake, that is exactly the same opinion i have for a pac-jmm match.

when pac and jmm has explored other fights like hatton and pbf, a pac-jmm fight would be good. same as a jmm should consider a diaz rematch.

Honestly I wouldn't mind a rematch. It was a great fight, it deserves a great rematch.

Barrera-Morales, Pac-Morales, Marquez-Vasquez, Corrales-Castillo became great rivalries. Let JMM-Diaz be one as well.

I'd rather see JMM vs Pac.

JMM KO Juan Diaz. I don't want to see J. Diaz one of my Fave fighters get KO again.

  8. No, not really. Everyone's allowed an opinion. According to who??? Me!!!

I think he deserves a rematch. Most people think it was the fight of the year so far. It takes two to tango, and Diaz was dancing his socks off! Why does he not deserve it? He was part of the reason it was 'fight of the year'. It's not like he was on the end of a one sided thumping.

If anything it's Marquez who should be turning it down. It's a lose-lose situation for him. If he wins again - people might say 'so what, he already beat him.' If he loses. Well, he loses! If it's a boring fight, then it could take the shine off the amazing first fight.

That was very different situation though. Both those guys were top fighters who basically had the star power to command any fight they want. Diaz does not have that kind of star power. Plus, the outcome of that one still had people wondering years aftward if it was just a fluke. This JMM - Diaz fight doens't have anybody thinking that. The general consensus is that Marquez proved he was the better fighter, period.

A rematch would be a decent fight, but nobody is clamoring for it because this 1st fight I think proved to many people who the better man was. Besides, Marquez wats to move up to 140 and even 147 to fight bigger name fighters. So his options are a lot bigger than a Diaz rematch at this point. Sorry, but I doubt he's giving Juan a rematch after that KO victory. If he really wants one he's going to have to earn it and re-establish himself as a champion, and by that time Marquez might already be retired or at the very least vacated the division. It's just how the business of boxing works these days.

Was the fight exciting? yes. Why does he not deserve it? He was KOd.

pretty much agree with your 2nd paragraph.

Marquez KO6, he won't need those couple of feel-out rounds. Maybe one to get his juices flowing.

He was getting broken down before the cut, nothing changed because of the cut. Diaz is using the cut as an excuse, which is a shame because I like Diaz.

Great fight but there's no need for a rematch.. It's a risky business for Marquez.. He won by a clean knockout... THeir business is over...

Marquez does need a stay busy fight while waiting for PAc/hatton clear things up and he deserves a soft touch... Someone with a high profile but not too much of a threat.. Maybe he should fight Guzman or somebody.. Add a decent name to his resume.
