Arnoutis who? He showed up for the money.......not to fight!!!

  2. But that begs the question - why do the American public accept their fighters to "stay at home" all of their careers, yet it's a double standard if applied to anyone else. Please don't say because of the money/fans - I'm fairly positive that the average top "Euro" fighter could draw a bigger crowd in europe than it's american counterpart in america.

The paydays are generally bigger in the States. Not only that, but many of the best fighters in the world are from the U.S or fight out of the U.S. Not to mention that they're are many other great fighters from Mexico, Puerto Rico, and South America.

    :thumbsup

I'm lovin' the potential matchups that have developed at 140 (and to a slightly lesser extent, 154) that could make great fights either now or in the very near future- Kotelnik-Modena was a great fight, and Holt-Bradley is really going to start getting the ball rolling. It's hard not to like a division loaded with sluggers who usually get as good as they give and that has enough finesse guys to keep 'em honest.

154's looking brighter because a few vets have stepped up and you've got more young talent on the rise, but there's going to be some very nice matchups there over the next couple of years, too.

    why would americans leave?

all the money is in america-
all the major networks are in america-
all the more respected fighters are in america-

that would be like the dc united telling manchester u to come to america or some **** for a football/soccer match.... what the hell would man u come to usa for soccer for?

    better soccer in uk
    better teams in the uk
    better promotion in the uk
    more money in the uk....

unless dc united put a fat ass check on the table for man u to come to the states... otherwise it wouldnt make sense

The only names on that list that have any sort of catch is

    Taylor
    Kessler
    Andrade
    and Bute

Taylor is American...was previously a superstar with being the MW king for a brief period, now making a decent name for himself at SMW...but many questions marks on this guy at the moment. His best fight and win was against a exposed and shot to **** (because of the shoulder injury) Lacy.

Kessler is living off his fight with a proven Euro fighter in Calzaghe, but is as relevant as ****in' Kotelnik (who up until his fight with Maidana no one really knew of)

Andrade is mexican who has fought on American soil and built a decent fanbase although still somewhat obscure and only started receiving notice because he's the guy that fought the guy that fought the superstar...(Andrade - Kessler - Calzaghe)

Bute is only recently known now because he SHOULD'VE lost to Andrade. SO again...he's even further down the line with this BS of he's the guy who barely beat the guy who fought the guy who fought the superstar...****in' ridiculous BULL**** man...****in' garabage division. There's good fighters in it, but its just a **** division because no one's fighting anybody. It lacks diviersity. WWM hit the nail on the head when he said it's just Euro guys. That's why it sucks ass. There's no diversity. Only ONE American and ONE latin fighter in the mix??!!...****in' sorry ass division. It's about as good and exciting as Cruiserweight. That division sucks ****in' balls too.

All of these guys are ****in' SHObox fighters at best...

    No way it compares to 122, 130, 135, 140, 147 or even 154...

    SMW is ****in' ASS! :deal

it's weak because it's dominated by one continent...Europe.

It only has ONE american and ONE latin fighter. Otherwise it's just Euro guys. And if Andrade were to get better wins, SMW would soon be followed more closely because Mexicans love their champions.

If Andrade won against Kessler, I guarantee the division would have a better following. Had Calzaghe fought Andrade in what would've most likely been a war people would be speaking of Calzaghe in a much better light because Mexican and Latin fighters are on a whole bigger scale on heart and excitement.

Call it a latino bias, but it's a simple fact.

This division sucks ass. No superstar has emerged. But I'm sure it'll get better once MW elites start to move up in weight. I guarantee after Abraham and Pavlik fight or don't fight, they'll move up and it'll be a division worth talking about.

It happened with 140 and could happen to 168...

If Trinidad comes back and beats the **** outta a decent opponent @ 168 and someone big from MW goes up in weight...you'll have a weight class with some potential. Because you'll have a superstar name like Trinidad beign thrown around in fights between contenders that won't be made and MW that want good and exciting fights at SMW...you'll have a better mix of things to come...I'm sure Ward, Green, and Bika will either get bigger or smaller in relevance...it could potentially be the next big thing...but as of right now...it's utter dog ****.

Not a very appropriate analogy, though some of the points you raise do make sense. Man United, as with all football sides, play in their national league and are contracted to do so. Therefore, if they came to the States it could only be for a friendly match rather than anything significant. Also, there are simply no sides in the States who would present any sort of significant challenge.

Boxing is different, fighters are not bound by leagues and can fight anyone, anywhere there is a good challenge to be found. But I agree, if you are going to fight out of your home country, whether you are US, English, Aussie, Danish, German, whatever, there needs to be a good reason to do it. Generally, that means either money (hence why all ther alatinos fight in the US) or the lure of a title shot or eliminator, or massive fight. You're not going to travel to another country to fight for the fun of it, wherever you're from. I think the original poster's point was that some US posters do not understand this simple logic and equate foreigners wanting to fight mainly at home with being afraid to go anywhere else, whilst excusing the same thinking in their own fighters.

    Just my $0.02 worth anyway.
