I can't see as an hour would hurt. They go over and over the same football subjects. They've done Rugby and cricket shows in the past. I can't be dealing with the likes of Durham covering boxing though.
I remember before Hatton-Floyd they did a bit about boxing. Ginger Durham and Wrighty. It was so obvious that they had very little knowledge of the sport. Then this bloke rang in (might have been Betty ) who went on a rant about how Hatton ducked Witter. Durham had no idea what to say.
it could be possible for us to do our on online boxing show?there are loads of boxing fans out there,we could easily get a free online radio station ,you just need someone with the equipment and thetime .
To be honest I'm not missing anything without Talksport covering boxing. Their tedious format of Presenter A makes assertion Presenter B asserts to exact opposite is so laboured it's untrue unless Collymore is talking politics and the royal family. If it's not about the Premiership or England they really couldn't give a toss and hearing the likes of Mike Parry or Durham talking about boxing would be tedious in the extreme. 5Live boxing is okay - but not really interactive in the way that Setanta tries to be.
I never forgave them for dropping Tommy Boyd. Talksport has dulled over recent years, a weekly 2 hour boxing slot would great for them seeing as a large amount of footy fans are also boxing fans.
theres a guy out there called billy c he does a radio show from the states. he talks allot allot allot of **** though
The next BBC Five Live boxing show is on Weds March 25 (I think that it is between 8-9pm). I'm pushing like a crazy man for a Setanta boxing phone-in. A Sunday night is one idea. I'm also pushing like a deprived man for a studio show similar to Football Matters with 30 fans. A Sunday night again looks cool. I've tried to open the Bunce Hour up and it has worked - I will keep the door to the fans wide open. A boxing show on TalkSport, with a boxing presenter, is a total no-brainer. There will be a monster Bunce Hour show on Thursday with Billy Schwer, Willie Limond, Michael Gomez, the middleweight boys from the Midlands, Danny 'Missing in Action' Williams, a woman boxer (not yet confirmed) and a big-mouthed American (not yet confirmed) and one of the four big players from the Khan/Barrera fight. Stick with me on this. Adios.
Great ideas Bunce. Nice to see someone is fighting our corner. Talksport are so narrow minded at the moment it is mad. I listened one night last week and a presenter said they were going to talk lower league football after the next break. They took one call from a Luton fan and did not even reply to the poor bloke and just went back to talking about why Ronaldo dives and which teammate Gerrard is sleeping with. The last Vegas show was a total non event on the station too. I guess it was the Hatton vs Paulie fight. The station sent a reporter over, Mike Parry and every time he was on air the presenters just wanted to know what his hotel was like and how he had done on the slots. No boxing talk. Disgrace. Sorry Bunce but Andy Townsend likes his boxing so they will not need you to present the show....ha.
Buncey the sunday night live audience show sounds like a good idea, it would be a nice point to debate the weeks previous bouts, fights coming up and other pressing matters. Hopefully you would still get a live guest in to discuss. and the rest all sounds great, but got to go and do some work....
The last thing Talksport wants is the sort of intelligent comments boxing fans would come up with. All they're interested in is argument and controversy.
