"No Mas" was a strange incident but it shouldn't over shadow what was one of the greatest careers in boxing history.

One bizarre incident does not erase an otherwise stellar career.

He is remembered as being greater than he was.:yep Duran was a great fighter, WITHOUT A DOUBT! However, his ATG rating is WAY too high. He was beat by all of the best fighters of his generation, yet most people rank him over all of them.:patsch His reign at lightweight was good... but nothing like what it is blown up to be. Definitely not enough to rank him over all of the greats from his era like SRL who beat Hagler, Hearns, Benitez, (who all beat Duran) and Duran himself. the Duran myth has grown beyond belief.

and what is his generation? the man fought over 5 decades, and sayin he was just "good" as a lightweight is a gross understatement.

There is no question he is one of the greatest ever.

I just finished reading "Hands of Stone" by Christian Giudice. If anyone thinks about "No mas" as his defining moment, they really don't have a full picture of the man.

Don't forget that a man who was once a lightweight was 1 round away from winning THE Middleweight championship...
