I don't think anybody is getting tired of Bute, but there are a couple of facts that explain why the tickets are not selling as good as usual for this one. First, I have to put it on the economy, see, a lot of people are scared about loosing their jobs, witch cuts down the leisure budget first, also the fact that there will be a great night of boxing on April 4th with Holt-Bradley + Andrade-Tzypsko. On the same night, April 4th, GYM holds a gala at the Mtl Casino, featuring Jean Pascal and friends...

I also think that the medium Bute fans went to see his last optionnal against Joppy, and it was not as exciting as if he was fighting a real treath. Personnally, I was not supposed to go this Friday, but a buddy won 4 tickets, so instead of a PPV night, we will be there live again. So, if everything goes as planed, Bell Center will feel to small for his next fight, weather it's a rematch against Andrade or a unification against Taylor. Great things are coming in the near futur for Lucian and us fans will be cheering even more our beloved champ!

Thanks Decebal. I must have missed a Bute interview as those facts are new to me. Melanie is more charming than Interbox former nutritionnist, I'm sure of that.

    Can I be your friend's friend? ;)

Enjoy your boxing night. I'm still wondering where I will go to see it since I don't have Illico to buy the PPV. One of the Cage aux sports restaurants I guess.

Cage aux Sports is a good place to watch it, but try to win some tickets on the CKAC Sports web site, not a great number of people are participating and they give lots of tickets. I won last time against Andrade, but I had my seats already.

It's probably a combo of all the reasons you have mentioned.

There is like 4-5 boxing cards + a sold out UFC within a few weeks.

The economy is not going well.

Bute has lost of a bit of his superman aura in the eyes of the casual fans.

    etc..
    etc..
    etc..

Bute probably loses around 7-8 lbs during a single training session. In reality he only has 2-3 lbs too lose for the weight in.

Well...he loses 8 pounds after one of those 12 round sparring sessions...but I don't think he'll be doing one of those with 2 days to the weigh-in...this is why it's hard to cut the weight...and why he has to starve himself of food and water for a couple of days. Right now, he's just working on his speed and sharpness...he's not working on his endurace...all that he's stopped working on a week ago...no?

I don't think he does a super training session with almost nothing in the belly for 2 days. He trains lightly I suppose. So, he has to lose many pounds before. Decebal, I propose you stop eating for 3 days, you train hard, and then tell us how many pounds you lost.

Exactly! This is what I'm saying! Given that he cuts down on food and water so much in the last couple of days, he couldn't possibly train that hard...he trains lightly, just to keep sharp and fast. This is why, as he says himself, he cannot go to sleep at night easily in the last 2 days because he's so thirsty and hungry, and he's woken up by hunger and thirst during the night...he can't even swallow, he's mouth and throat are so dry.

Making weight is hell for Bute...it's not like Maxime suggests...just losing 3 pounds and doing one of those long sessions in the gym...he needs to starve himself for a couple of days.

I didn't know he wasn't able to sleep before the fight because he was too hungry and too thirsty. Maybe he should just lose 3 pounds now and make a big training session on the weight-in morning? I know, if they do it the other way, that means something.

So, making weight is hard for Bute, but it must be hard for anyone who gains 10 pounds and more after the weight-in. Margarito, Kessler, and plenty other boxers regain such weight.

No...if he did that, he wouldn't be able to recuperate in time for the fight if he did one big training session on the weigh-in morning...it would be like running a marathon the day before the marathon race...it's silly. He wouldn't have the energy to do a long hard session anyway, given that he's not eating. It would be dangerous too, because he wouldn't have the water in his body to expel as sweat...to regulate temperature. That's why they don't do it...they keep it light and short in the last few days.

Of course, it's hard for any fighter to dehydrate. Most fighters say it's the hardest thing about boxing. Not many fighters lose as much as 5.5% of their bodyweight in the last 3 days though, like Bute...he only has himself to blame for leaving so much to shift so late in the day, I guess...:conf

I was thinking about a training session instead of stopping eating and drinking. A hockey goaltender can lose from 6 to 7 pounds in one game and still play another game the day after. Bute would not have to do sparring, just cardio. But if he doesn't do that, it's because it doesn't work.
He may be too big at SMW... 178 seems to be his normal weight, when he's in top shape. He can't be smaller for a long time without losing a big bunch of energy. Dehydrating must be for a short period. Maybe some boxers find it more difficult not to drink and eat than others.
