Calzaghe is the only one who could have at 168. What a fight that would have been back in the day.

the jones that was in against toney/paz would destroy any calzaghe. call me a nuthugger, ball licker, goat ****er, whatever clever description. I've watched roy from middle to heavy back to a shot ex champ and calzaghe would need to stand on a stool to kiss his ass

Glass Jaw Roy was never in a war like Hagler, Spinks, Moore, Charles, etc. were in. They were battle tested gritty fighters. Jones compared to them was a prissy footed prima donna who handpick just about every fight and took no risks and would only fight on his terms.

Youre using Vinny Paz as to a reason why Calzaghe would lose? Honestly?

i'm using that version of roy as a barometer. Sure, calzaghe would have beaten paz that night to and easily. but would he have landed 40 jabs in a round? would he have gone a round without getting hit with a single punch? the difference in talent was enormous and calzaghe just isn't at that level

No he's saying at 168, that version of Roy destroys any version of JC.

He wouldn't destroy Joe Calzaghe....he would beat him, nobody in the modern era can say for sure they would beat a prime RJJ but using a fat Vinny Paz as an example is odd.......

Im not arguing that RJJ wouldn't lose to Calzaghe before 2002 but he wouldn't stand him on his head inside the distance.....

fair enough. i feel that if roy was inclined to go for the knockout, he's find it. but he wasn't always inclined and calzaghe is a tough nut to crack. I can go with a UD

For the record I have never said Roy should have gone to England or Germany. But, his reluctance to do so is strong evidence against his case. I mean Ali was not "too good" to travel to fight. If the greatest ever was willing to travel all over the World and fight then so should have Jones. It is why they are called WORLD Champions.
