Williams outboxes and out figgts him if necessary.Kirkland's defense is even worse than Williams's and his footwork is terrible, flat footed and just plain follows you,no cutting the ring off,no nothing.
it won't be a different story...he will pressure and throw 100 punches per round and stop the young one..maybe 18 to 24 months from now this fight will be competitive....today though this fight is a walk in the park for Paul!
Paul Williams blows Kirkland out the frame ... he's a bit too much for just about anyone in boxing today.
This is a hard fight to determine the outcome. It just depends on which Paul shows up. Paul isn't particularly fast, but he's plenty faster than Kirkland, has shown in the past to have very good footwork, and looks like he can bang to the body. He would just have to utilize his boxing skills and he could win this fight by a wide decision or possible KO. BUT, if Paul Williams gives up his fight and tries to fight in close with Kirkland, Kirkland is going to get him. He can't pull a Vernon Phillips in this fight. The body punching was great, but the gameplan of giving up his height and playing to his opponents strength was not to smart in my opinion. But ****......he got the win, but damn it was sloppy.
Paul Williams moves better, he fights great going backwards ... he throws alot of punches and he will make Kirkland have to adjust to his style ... I doubt if Kirkland is going to rush a 6'3 guy with long ass arms off jump ... he's going to have to find a way to the inside. Paul Williams throws way too many punches for Kirkland to handle --
Now this is some pure bull****, but it's a joke right? I mean, it was a bad joke considering it's not the least bit funny, but it is at least a joke right?
Hell yeah Kirkland is going to rush him. He's going to come in squared up not throwing a jab except for maybe the first round, and not moving his head.
Thats something Kirkland didnt do against Joel Julio...He would rush in throwing bombs from the start without even trying to set it up off the jab...That gameplan is all wrong for Kirkland against a fighter like Willams....Kirkland has no head movement, and still gets hit a little to much for my liking...No doubt he's a force and has a punchers chance but thats highly unlikely giving Paul Williams will be at his ass all night long!
Kirkland WILL be landing bombs on Williams, the "slow and predictable" Margarito was landing on him, but Williams impressively didnt fold. but I don't know how he will react when those bombs from Kirkland land, if they don't affect him I guess he can win a UD.
Williams has fought 2 knockout punchers in Mattys and Margarito and Williams took those punches well. And Both Margarito and Mattys were moving forward pressuring Williams and Williams didn't fold. Quintana got a good decent punch and Quintana is the same guy that took Julio to school if i remember correctly.
Williams is too much for a guy like Kirkland. Kirkland can really fight only one way while Williams could beat him at his own game or box from the outside. Williams by wide UD or late round TKo would be my pick
Spoken like a true nuthugger when has williams ever taken shots, and walked through them, by someone with julio's power the way kirkland did? and when has he ever shown anywhere even close to the type of strength kirkland has?
