Good luck Jeff. Fighters with lots of losses on their records always make better trainers. You are up there with the likes of Emanuel Steward, dont become a money ***** like Steward though.
Peter Buckley was on the course, as was Mathew Hatton and Gary Reid. Also a guy from many moons ago called Derek Grainger 23-2-1 (19KO's).
That's a good read. I've been meaning to ask Jeff about the Steve Murray fight....... Good luck with the new career.
Thanks Jeff. David Leadbetter (or whatever his name is) has never won a golf tournament in his life but is the guy every top pro turns to when they need to improve their game, I can see you doing likewise and you have experience of winning bouts. Don't do a Steward special and turn exciting fighters into complete boring old farts with handbag jabs (e.g. Wlad). Don't do a buddy and do jack ****. Don't become Khans trainer as no one can improve his chin. Don't use Dean Powell as a role model. Also do not leave the forum when you are earning millions. All the successful pro's like Haye leave this forum once they taste success.
Cheers Kurt.... Very true what you say. Dave Coldwell, Oliver Harrison, Bobby Rimmer.... All decent but unexceptional fighters but excellent trainers. I know what i'm taking about when it comes to the technicalities of the sport. If I can articulate that effectively then I might do ok. Working with Gomez has been a great experience and sets a template for any fighter I am involved with in the future. That Kevin and Gomez listen to some of my suggestions is really cool to because they both know the sport- gomez more then most, so it must mean i'm speaking some sense. There's so much to learn with boxing and coaching a newb as opposed to coaching someone who knows the sport is very different. But i'm not one of these people whosays something and doesn't do it.... I completed my first aid course, I did the pro trainers course, I've got loads of contacts in the sport who realise i'm a decent lad and they've invited me to their gym to see how they work. I'm getting a fitness instruction qualification, that will be followed by a personal trainers qual and I'm helping coach the kids at the local amateur gym, by taking them on the pads which is in turn helping me because i'm developing my padding skills. Thats how you progress I think.
This is great to see Jeff. You always come over on here as a good man,so lets hope one day we see you up there on Sky with your own Champion.:good
Cheers Ron.... I doubt i'll ever get that far, but i'll do my best.... I'm def in the corner on Sky on the 27th.:good
Jeff I have some training mitts,a punchbag, and bag gloves. I used to have punchbags when younger but never wrapped my hands, is this ok. When training on the mitts should with bag gloves do you need to wrap your hands. Cheers
