What 160-168-175 Pound fighter can beat a peak RJJ

    No more of a fight than Jones-Toney or Jones-Hopkins. Jones was all wrong for Calzaghe. He was on another level entirely. Jones domination, toying with Calzaghe late, very possibly a stoppage.

    Good post. Agree with nearly everything.


    Only statement that isn't entirely correct is regarding George vis-a-vis or in relation to Tarver in 2008. Johnson, you can make a case for but it would be a very hard fight for him today. Both Tarver and Johnson are old now. George fought at cruiser and is looking extremely comfortable at LHW and is in his prime right now. But, your point is relevant as relates to post-Ruiz Roy and the impact of the muscle and weight he took off in middle age.

    well ur 2/3rds right. ive also seen jones, hopkins, pavlik, taylor, maccarinelli, Ali, Tyson, Benn, Eubank, Collins, Bruno, Holyfield.......want me to name more mate? Im sorry i aint as experienced as some of you "experts" but i know when a great fighter when i see one.

    Calzaghe and Jones are both great fighters and having started boxing myself i have a lot of respect for any proffesional boxer. however i just think that Calzaghe was better and i know for a fact that he would have stood his ground with a "Prime" roy jones even though quite a lot of people before the fight predicted a roy jones victory........yeah so much for that idea huh?

    Jones would catch him with lead right hands over and over and over again. Clear and complete annihilation. Joe wouldn't have a prayer. He just doesn't have the ability to avoid getting hit by great athletes. There are several guys that could have a chance on any given night with Roy. There are many dozens of guys that would have a great chance against prime Calzaghe (and that excludes LHWs).

    excellent post! Spinks and Charles had a much better chance than Foster though, he was frail even at light heavy

    If there is any absolute between 160-168 it is indeed RJJ.

    Any debate does begin at 175.

    Ah well dudes, you can all make your excuses but uhh......46-0 and that includes jones.
    ive got a lot of respect for jones jr but calzaghe cut him, toyed with him and hardly threw any punches in the last round where he could have handed jones another KO Loss. Yall just got sour grapes, so i think ill leave you to ***** and moan.

    Just use your eyes. Watch the tapes of prime Jones (make sure you've got slow motion - lol) and any tape of Joe. If you watch prime Jones and think "****, I wish I could do that" then you're normal. If you watch prime Calzaghe and think "****, I wish I could do that" you must not be that much of an athlete yourself. Seriously.

    I think Ezzard Charles stands the best chance to beat him at 175, but I'd still pick Roy Jones. The light heavyweight division has produced a lot of all time greats but I would not pick any of them to beat a prime Jones Jr.
    I also do not see any one beating a prime Roy Jones at 168.

    How does Roy beat Calzaghe? Roy has the glass jaw. If they fought before Calzaghe developed such fragile hands he would have shattered Roy's glass jaw.

    First off Roy took it unknowingly and the sanctioning body even accepted that...

    2nd who in the fu34 was Joe Chalzaghe in 99 and 2000??:huh I knew who he was cuz I follow boxing...Nobody and there mama in the USA knew who Joe was and this sport is a business!!

    3rd I'm not talkin bout BHOP though BHOP and Joe's fight was very close..I had Joe winning by 2 points but many on here had it a draw or even BHOP winning by 1 point...:think

    4th Yes Roy and BHOP would have been able to maintain an unbeaten record there whole career with those hands fighting the bums that Joe fought MOST (NOT ALL) OF HIS CAREER! :yep

    LAST you say Roy got what he deserved! Man please...JOE CHALZAGHE WAS WORTH NOTHING...HE HADN'T BEAT NOBODY WHEN HE WAS TRYIN TO FIGHT ROY...ROY WOULDA MURDERED THAT SLAPPIN MUTHA FU3KA IF HE FOUGHT RJJ IN HIS PRIME!! :deal
