Greg Page was a solid fighter. He'd be a top ten heavy today easy.

page was a talented fighter, but he was a doughboy who never put enough effort into stamina.

he actually looks slimmer in sparring with tyson than he did in all the fights i saw him in.

    genuine knockdown.

page was a relaxed fighter in the ring and would have lost to a prime tyson, but would not have been intimidated and lost before he stepped in the ring as 90% of tyson victims did.

it is surprising , i had not seen that before , greg page was not a big puncher , but tyson never saw it coming and walked into it.

    Thanks for sharing.

Seen this long ago but never in high quality. This was before his fight with Douglas, a sparring session with Greg Paige. Even during the fight with Douglas they play the video in between rounds, think it was round 5.

Greg was Olivers trainer too for his best and more recent victories.. including the Lewis win.....He and George Benton were Olivers closest allies along with Tony Tucker.. OLiver knocked Tyson clean off his feet while he was preparing for Holmes... It happens occasionally, Page slipped the sly shot in that video out in Tokyo prior to the Douglas fight.. Page was a great technical fighter.. I have seen Mike hurt numerous times in the gym but disguise it well.. Friday Ahunanya caught a lacsadasical Tyson with a great shot in the gym that knocked mike unconcious a week before the Cliff Ettiene fight in Memphis.. Friday said it was a half slip and not a heavy shot, but everyone else in the gym begged to differ and Mike himself said he was out of it completely.. In 97 i watched Stan Allen hurt mike with a fast combination during a sparring session for Holyfield II, Mike waited for a sly opportunity later in that same session before he broke one of Stans ribs... Mike was a hurtful man in the ring , he fought hard even in sparring and it was often the well paid guys who paid the heavier price with severe gym injuries, James Broad RIP.. and Jessie Ferguson know oh too well what it feels like to be at the wrath of Tyson at his fiercest..........

Ah, I remember that from the days before the Douglas fight. The HBO folks later pointed to it as proof that the stories of Tyson's infamously lax training camp in Japan were true and that he wasn't training anything like how he should have been.

Also proof that the punch you walk into has the most effect, by far.
