If Mikkel Kessler was handled by Americans, would he be any more popular?

I thought there was a deadline of a year (or something,) between defenses then they could strip him.

They could well start some kind of 'interim', 'super' or 'imaginary' champ bull**** while he's in court.

Pretty accurate but not quite complete. First fight. While dealing in bad faith with Warriors, Palle was pulling his strings at the WBA. Palle should not has scrapped the first fight on such thin speculation that he could force a mandatory within such a short time of time. They knew Mundine already had another fight signed and announced. I guess Palle overestimated how far his petition (read check) would get him.

Abraham fight was days from being signed when Palle approached Warriors again. Warriors wasn't going to "pull a Palle" on Saurland.

    Otherwise a pretty good account.

Had to read too far into this thread to find someone that said it isn't an American/European thing. Wow.

Thread is mis-titled. Should be "handled by competent promoters"....

Exactly...I dont get this whole "if _________ (fill in the blank)was American he would be more popular." Its all about who you got promoting you...Even Don King got a hold of the Valuev and boosted his name into the mainstream...Some fans cant grasp that concept...I understand that America may be the "MECCA OF BOXING" to some but being American doesnt always gets you the fame.

By 'American' I just took it as 'mainstream' promoter instead of some obscure guy from one of a small country who has no international reputation. I didn't think it was some mini Yank-Euro war.

I don't know the original intent of the thread starter, I just get tired of that line. If that isn't meant to mean that, why say it that way?

Fair enough, it would probably annoy me if I was American. I suppose it's maybe a response to the 'Won't fight in America' criticism that some guys get. I just take 'America' as meaning the boxing mainstream in both cases.

Kessler's sister and her mammoth tits would merit an American reality show easy...

I think you are right. Unfortunately. It's definitely a worst case scenario. I've been trying to think of ways for Mikkel to get out of his unpleasant position as you can read earlier in this post. Thinking twice about it I 'd like to add the following:

    3) Mikkel could prepare an all-out attack on Team Palle. I'm talking about all available tricks in the book....using the media - smear campaign - multiple court cases - harassment...all of it. Reason being that I cannot see a 75 year Palle survive that. In other words: wear the old guy down to his socks. :bbb

Exactly. And it's such a ridiculously small amount of money that Palle should be kicked in a certain place for just saying it.

Man oh man how quick we forget, are should i say ignore...Kessler clearly backed out of the fight with Miranda, and the fight with AA was made afterwards...In fact kessler was chasing a fight with Mundine, after he agreed to fight Miranda.

At 75 Palle has more time then Kessler:hey

Kessler isnt a young fighter anymore, in terms of boxing. If Palle ties Kessler up in court for a couple of years which these kinds of thing seem to do, now your talking about a 33 or 34 year old Kessler that would have pissed away his prime. Its in his best interest to get it done quickly. What he needs to do is quit being a baby fight the three fights or buy himself out and move on.
