    It's not just Mexico.

    This point in history is very much a changing of the guards.

    Calzaghe, Morales, Barrera, Marquez, Pacquiao, Hopkins.....

    Boxing is about to enter a new dimension....

    Aside from Mexico, Puerto Rico has a list of current and upcoming fighters like Cotto and Juan Manuel Lopez. This country has long history of great champions like Wilfredo Benitez, Felix Trinidad, Jose Torres, Carlos Ortiz, Wilfredo Gomez, Hector Camacho, Esteban Jesus, and Wilfred Benitez.

    Like the Philippines, Puerto Rico is a stiff rival of Mexico in the boxing world.

    I think the more traditional rivals of Filipino boxers are the

    1. Thais
    2. Koreans
    3. Japanese
    4. Indonesians

    And the traditional rival of Mexico is Puerto Rico, with a minor rivalry between Mexico vs the whole of Latin america.

    The Philippines-Mexico rivalry, Mexico's still leading comfortably in the overall standings, I believe. But the Philippines has had a great half decade run, because of Pacquiao and company.
