Has Evander Holyfield ever commented on the power of Foreman, Lewis, and Tyson?

I would like to hear his thoughts on that. I heard somewhere here on this forum that he rated Foreman's punches harder than Tyson's. Don't know what he said about Lewis. Lewis came closest to KO'ing him with that monster uppercut that buckled Holyfield's knees. Any interviews on this subject?

 

In the Classic Sports doc on Foreman Holyfield says Foreman hit him the hardest he was ever hit ... he thought all his teeth had been knocked out ... I find it hard to believe ...

 

Why is it hard to believe?

 

Was this interview done after the Lewis fight?

I's hard to believe because he fought the 42 year old Foreman who did not hit like the 73 Foreman ...

 

The ****? Foreman claimed Cooney hit him the hardest, until I brought up Ronald Lyle......

Foreman hit just as hard as he did in 73, power don't go. He didn't have the same ability to cut off the ring and that's why people like Tommy Morrison survived against him. Shannon Briggs said he hit him harder than Lennox did, it's just Lewis had alot more speed on his punches.

 

Foreman also said that he wasn't fully sitting on his punches in his comeback, he was scared of breaking his opponent's neck

 

I think Bowe probably hit Holyfield hardest,he had him down a few times in thier first fight and knocked him out in thier third.

 

I have a GQ magazine that has an interview with Evander Holyfield just prior to his first match with Lennox Lewis. In the interview, Holyfield is asked who hit him the hardest out of all of his opponents. Holyfield said the answer was easy: Riddick Bowe! Please don't make me go scan a copy of the article and post it on here for all you who don't believe me....

He also said the trickiest and smartest fighter he ever fought was Larry Holmes!

 

Yeah, that does sound like something George would say.

 

I heard Holyfield on the radio, I think about a year ago or so, asked to compare Tyson's and Foreman's hitting power (when he fought them); he said it was hard to say, but he'd go with Foreman.

 

I'm surprised that he had to split hairs to make a choice. Maybe Old Foreman just didn't get to land his best shots where Lewis & Tyson did.

I guess asking a fighter who hit the hardest is somewhat subjective too. When Tyson was asked who hit him the hardest he just said that Holyfield punched him the most relentlessly. That's a fair response but it's not necessary the answer to the question.

Maybe Bowe put Holyfield in the most distress over those grueling rounds. He made the ring hell & pain for Holyfield. But for single punches - I've never seen a punch buckle Holyfield like that uppercut from Lewis. Of course there have been punches where Holyfield was dropped and not just buckled but that can be attributed to other factors too.
