Unfortunately a lot of your compatriots seem to buy this ****, otherwise Arum wouldn't put Chavez Jr. headlining on that much PPV's...

I think it's a way of raising the cash for a fight when none of the networks will put money into it.

    I agree that it's a rip off.

because guys like cotto, chavez and Pavlik are asking to much money to be on versus or espn... And were fighting to shady competition to be on HBO or Showtime...

I think it was good that HBO passed that card... instead of other competitive fights

Well it's the people who are paying for it that are suckers... BEcause of this reason, I don't order many PPVs unless they are really stacked and worth it.. It's not about the money, it's the principals and i refuse to get ripped off. Or if im having a party at the pad with a bunch of people, then id order it..

It's Chavez Jr! We want to see this kid fight. Personally I think he needs to get dropped so he can learn something. He needs to get into trouble so we can see how he reacts and to see if he can handle it. I agree that his record is protected but we have hope that once he is pushed to his limit that he'll overcome and show us his real heart. His dad needs to let him grow up and become his own man. And also Soto, Montiel, and Castillo too! I cant wait to watch this! They might be fighting bums but I don't know about you guys but I love to watch my favorite fighters knock people around. :happy If you don't wanna watch it, then don't :bbb

Promoters are putting fighters in the ring with guys that none of the networks are interested in. So they have to go to PPV..This card of Arums with Pavlik and Cotto is the perfect example of that..HBO said no thank you to that crap so Arum had to put it on PPV...Margo vs Mosley, Marquez vs Diaz are PPV level fights..Its great that they werent, but I would have paid for them both. Pavlik and Cotto vs those guys (cant even remember the names) arent. Those are undercard fights with headline fighters. I must also add that neither fighters was happy with who Arum put themin the ring with, and in the case of Cotto I think it is adding to the reasons that he will leave Arum after his deal is up, two more fights I think.

As long as HBO sticks to its guns and avoids garbage fights then all is well.

    These ppvs are optional.

If you wanna see them then do and if not then don't.

I've bought a **** ppv or 2 in the past and was glad I atleast had the oppurtunity.

If Hbo and Showtime put on quality fights on a consistent basis then I don't mind the alternative ppvs.

because its not always making money...Example Duran vs Camahco which got 4,900 est PPV buys, lost money and the promoter is the one that had to eat it...Margo vs that bum he fought instead of taking the Floyd fight did less then 19,000 buys and Arum lost money, which is the reason that he stated he needed Margo on the card, if not for Margo he would have had a huge lose. Im sure that many of the crap PPV cards are break even ventures, which is why we are seeing fewer of them these days.

Boxing fans are like crack addicts.. They know they shouldn't, but they just keep coming for more and more and these promoters are happy to serve..

Problem is the people they're targeting aren't us. Arum doesn't care about the hardcore fans in cases like these. He'll continue to put Pavlik and Cotto and JCC Jr on PPV because they have built in fan bases who are willing to pay for whatever it is.

Sad but true nowadays. As long as people are willing to pay top dollar for Pavlik vs Can, that's what we'll get.
