Annoying when fighters aren't bitches who fight the top guys, then the others who fight easy people for a title.

I agree. The sport has been totally ruined over the last 25 yrs or so with the introduction of the IBF in the mid 80's then WBO etc etc etc and so on and so on. Belts mean f#ck all nowadays, thats why the top fighters relinquish them at the drop of a hat to fight for more money without a belt. One audacious poster had the hide to call Daniel Geale a "world champion" earlier in this thread.:bart What a load of bollocks.

What counts nowadays in boxing is your resume (who you have beaten and who has beaten you). Belts, undefeated records pale into insignificance when you are embarrassed for people to see your resume.

 

Despite the alphabet titles creating many world champions as opposed to one, how hard would it be in this day and age to have one world champ per division.

Given many champs only have 2 defenses or 3 if they are quite active, per year, there were be 25 contenders and only 2-3 title fights per year.

The major sanctioning bodies should come to some sort of compromise that allows for more unification fights, such as, if a fighter has many x amount of defenses, they must unify with enough division.

Kinda tricky and kinda confusing, but it would be great if such a deal could be struck.

 

Hey Flamengo. you do have more boxing knowledge than most of us put together. But who the hell has Mundine ever beat that would last 3 rnds with Adamek? In my mind - no one. Ok so we can quibble about weight but.......I stand by my intial statement. It's a fantasy matchup in the end but a Briggs who was comfortable at SMW would have scared the pants off Mundine

 

Didnt really scare him when they sparred together, even Briggs said Mundine got the better of him on the outside.

I saw some photos of a mundine-briggs spar and briggs did look a little touched up to be honest. But I think a real fight would pan out differently.
