Chad Dawson most Offensively Complete Boxer

I agree with everything you're saying here but I'm 50/50 on a Kessler/Dawson fight. I think Chad is showing a steady learning curve though. He's not complete yet but on his way depending on his ring intelligence when he's under pressure. Kessler would be a very tough fight. Kessler is not going to fold from round 1-12. I rate them as the top two fighters besides Hopkins between 160-175. Chad sometimes forgets his boxing skills and trades when he does not need too which is the reason he had trouble with Johnson. Kessler hits as hard as anyone he's gonna fight. I wish the fight could be made late in the year because there is not a lot of big fights at 175 for Dawson and no one is anxious to fight Kessler at 168.

You've been saying this for a very long time. Why don't you tell us what your scorecard was, how Johnson won more than 6 rounds, and what Dawson should have done as to leave no doubt that he was victorious.

 

Look at Dawson, Johnson had him on ***** street. Dawson will not give Johnson a rematch for any amount of money. Remember, Johnson had Dawson out on his feet, almost knocked him out, Dawson remembers that. I do not want to watch Dawson fight Tarver again, why not Johnson? Dawson knows better, he almost got knocked out, is worries him a lot.

And if you think that was honest criticism of Calzaghe then you have serious flaws embedded deep within your skull.

The premise that Joe retired rather then face Dawson and lose his 0 is based on a flawed assumption. (Or should I say it was based on pure ****)
The flawed assumption is this: That he only had two choices. Retire or fight Dawson.
Why is it flawed? Cause Calzaghe had another choice. He could fight whoever the goddam he wanted to, no matter how much of a bum it might be. He proved for a decade that he was happy to do exactly that.

You can say that Calzaghe didn't want to fight Dawson or thought that Dawson would be a real threat and you could get away with saying that - although you would have no way to prove it. But even if Calzaghe didn't want to fight Dawson he could have kept fighting other people.

So saying that Calzaghe retired because he was somehow afraid of Dawson and risking his precious 0 is nothing other then ******ed. He had other choices that he has proven he was happy to take. That ain't honest criticism it's ****ing fantasy land.
Honest criticism is when you say he fought bums for most of his career and that his 0 is based on not taking risks (except for a couple of times).

Talk up Dawson all you want. He's an awesome talent. But don't get ****ing ******ed about it. He's good enough that you don't have to spout bull**** to make him look better.

 

Butterbean may have the best offense. But any decent fighter also needs defence (and stamina fatboy).

 

Not sold with this guy. He looks very fragile to me. Someone whom you can bullied around becasue you know he can't punch hard.

To summarize him, he has lots of offensive skills, but lacks that power to really set him apart from others to be considered an elite.

Against Kessler, he would be downed with the very first hard punch he would taste.

 

He's a good southpaw with a high workrate. I don't like how he took some rounds off in the Tarver fight. Against a more active fighter he could be punished for that.

And anyone who says Calzaghe retired because of Dawson is living in fantasy land. Calzaghe stated two years ago shortly he was going to retire and that's exactly what he did. For the record, I think Joe Calzaghe would beat Dawson quite handily. He's faster and has more experience.

 

Even if Calzaghe was ever as fast as the great rhapsodies about him, he sure as **** isn't faster than 26 year old Chad Dawson in this day and time. Calzaghe's rep for handspeed has always been based on his (eh...) "compact combinations" - that godawful windmill stuff any bipedal humanoid can do at high speed, not individual strikes - true handspeed. AGAIN; 68 year old Roy Jones was CLEARLY faster than Calzaghe in handspeed. CLEARLY. Dawson rattles off fully extended REAL combinations of 5 and 6 punches upstairs and down like a fully automatic from four feet out.
