Calderon had bad luck. Nobody interested in 105lbs because Calderon had no opponents there. Too good for everyone there. At 108lbs had a few fights but his management team have been kind of slow. He is already 34y/o. Its getting late. But it has been a great career. Just look at how many title fights he has won in line. Even in a weight above his real fighting weight. And he still is the smallest. Some people might find him boring. I LOVE TO WATCH HIM FIGHT!!!! THE BEST PURE BOXER RIGHT NOW!!!!
Lopez is trully overrrated He is just hight because he can punch but his stile was very similar to Marquez. Calderon boxes way better than Lopez just that Finito was a batamweigth fighting at lower weight clases, that's why he was impresive. When he fought fighter almsot the same weight at him he didn't impress to much. But yes finito had a better carrer and is greater all time, but saying Finito moop the floor with Calderon is just bias towar Calderon, Calderon would outbox Finito but like many people says need to fight a perfect fight, because Finito is a bigger guy and a real puncher with fast hands. But better boxer than Calderon He is not. Calderon outboxes superfeaherweights.
Thats is the problem need to move up do you see that Calderon is a smaller staweight and he willing to fight even on supe flyweight if he can outbox Donaire is going to be a heck of a aconplisment.
By the way he is fighting Canchilla on may. Solis is not willing to fight Calderon neither, ene if Calderon if the most money he would generate, just bad luck for Ivan
yeah, realistically that's pretty much impossible, Donaire is tall enough to be a JWW, and Calderons a midget, i was reaching with that one but uhhh....a guy like Naito could probabbly work, but then again he's not too well known i dont man.....i mean, ****, if he dont wanna move up and can't fight the best guys in his division, i meannn, whats more impressive to you? moving up and not being as succesfull or staying in your current division and just beating contenders?
calderon can be the best 108 pounder ever and to retire undefeated after beating great fighters in 108 would put him in the top 100 ATG...i do not like his style, his fights offers no drama but you got to give it to the guy,he is winning and he even gave cazares a rematch..
And which great fighters are at 108 for him to beat? Let him fight Roman Gonzalez, that's the fight I want to see. Calderon's been winning non-stop because his opposition has been completely nondescript when looking at their place in history. He's far too limited to be considered an ATG, and pretty much any of the top 108 pounders to have fought would beat him, though it must be said he's smaller than the rest. Either way, it doesn't change things.
would you say that lopez resume sh!ts calderon? in what way? for sure in terms of overall ability lopez is way ahead but their resume and accomplishment are almost comparable assuming of course that calderon beats solis or gonzales which is very likely
Lopez beat better opposition, even though his opposition was also pretty poor, especially by the standard most greats are measured against. Lopez, however, can be considered great based on not only his dominance, but the skills and abilities he clearly showed. Though he never really proved it against a fellow great (though a past prime version did beat Rosendo Alvarez), he dominated the opposition he did face as well as he could've possibly been asked to. Calderon has more or less dominated his opposition, but he's too small and limited to rank among the best at the lower divisions. Someone like Miguel Canto was far better, being just as out-sized but a much more impressive and proven pure boxer. Calderon would be run over by most of the top Flyweights.
so you penalize calderon for being in the 105 division instead of being a flyweight...canto is not a clear top 5 at flyweight...calderon ha sthe potential of being the best 108 fighter ever..and he is top 3 in the 105 division..
