I'm not disowning anything, buddy! I stand by that article! Pavlik wanted to move up and I suggested he fight Bute - the only beltholder at the time. Yeah, that was back in the day when Bute was completely unknown and when Showtime, etc. were completely uninterested in him. No one was writing anything about Bute at all. Things have changed, though...maybe articles like mine had a very little bit to do with the American promoters and journalists having a look at Bute in the first place! :hi:

I'm not going to pay for the PPV but I'm not a Pavlik-hater either (just broke and don't need to see the fight to know Mora will be awkward, run a lot, and lose a wide UD). But to play devil's advocate for the people giving him flack: how many other recognized champions got TONS of grief for fighting mandatories like Rubio, Lockett, etc. ? You could name a couple at least (Hopkins, Jones, Klitschko). When they fight/fought mandos they were **** on and to be fair, people expected better of Pavlik. He was and is a people's champion and now it's Taylor re-match (awesome), weak ass mando (not so good), Hopkins, weak ass mando (ok, you get 2) and now weaker ass voluntary. I know he can do better. The fact that his division is **** won't get him any more mercy that when those others did it. Im not saying I totally agree, but those are semi-valid points. It doesn't matter why he's fighting ****, he hasn't faced one solid fighter at middleweight, the division in which he's king.

I guess we were hating on Kelly before he even knew about the proposed fight:

    Please read the article!:hi:

Cameron Dunkin (Pavlik's Manager):“It’s a decent fight,” said Dunkin. “There’s just nobody out there. “There’s not a Marvin Hagler out there.”

...no, just Abraham, and he's not worthy of a shot at the champ, eh?

"Arum said Mora was contacted “because he’s available. The two Germans [Abraham and Sturm] are already fighting somebody, and we couldn’t wait.”" - the hypocrisy....:-(

Arum confirming Mora is the likely next opponent...and that it just needs to be cleared with the Pavliks.

"Pavlik’s handlers say they’ve had discussions with IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham and WBA champion Felix Sturm, but both Germans want too much money to fight Pavlik in America, and Pavlik is reluctant to fight overseas, fearing he won’t get a fair shake from the judges. Until the Germans’ demands go down, neither fight will happen, Dunkin said."" :-(

"There’s nothing about the Mora proposal that Pavlik finds objectionable, he said. “He’s a pretty slick fighter,” Pavlik said. “Nothing overwhelming. He’s probably the same as Rubio, although Rubio has a lot more power, a lot more bang in his punch. Mora had a great amateur career, too.”"

    ...there you go, buddy!:hi:

P.S. we're not hating on Pavlik, buddy! We're disappointed with him, that's all!:deal

I broke the article down for you, becasuse you were clearly failing to acknowledge that it was suggesting that Pavlik v. Mora was very much on the cards, not least because Pavlik thought it was a decent fight - exactly the opposite of what you were claiming. In other words, you got owned by the very source you brought to support your case. Well done!

That was my last post to you. I'm signing off forever as far as you're concerned.
    ................................................................

Fan pressure is required to "help" Pavlik see the light here and decide against this fight. This is what us Pavlik fans are after here, not to hate on Pavlik. He needs to give us the fight we expect from him - Abraham. End of story. No more bull**** and excuses. Enough's enough. Come on Kelly! Do the right thing!

The disgust should fall at the feet of Arum, not Kelly. As said in the article Kelly found out about the match-up from a reporter, not Arum or Dunkin. His Dad heard about it from a friend. This is damn near the same thing that happened to Kelly prior to the B-Hop fight. Kelly was preparing to fight PW. I would be surprised if Kelly was not displeased about this match-up.

You sure read a lot into a one line statement pointing to an article. Well, you signed off forever from this list if I remember correctly, lets hope you keep your word this time. :deal

He must hate to be put in this position, of course. He was quoted to have said as much in the article. He needs to speak up a bit, though. Pavlik needs to take charge a bit here and stop hiding behind his dad, his manager and Arum. He needs to ask for the Abraham fight and push to make it happen. This is what we expect of The Champ at this stage.
