There's a few people talking of Frank Warren's matchmaking principles as an indicator of how this fight will go. The thing is, Warren has nowhere left to go, and if he can't make money out of poor match-ups, he'll be forced to make money out of better match-ups That's what I hope we're seeing here.
atsch yes your right. Either way Khan is NOT fighting a old fogey Michael Gomez tonight he is fighting a much younger (in ring terms) fighter who is a mexican legend.
Exactly my take on it - I've flip flopped for the past two weeks and yesterday was a big negative for Barrera in my mind, i just got the feeling the he might have taken this fight lightly and the fact that he just made the weight after he had gotten bollock naked worries my. But saying that I am going to with old man MAB!
MAB doesn't deserve to go out with a loss to someone like Khan who at this stage has fought nobodies (in the grand scheme of things), struggled against some and then being blasted out at his first slight step up. I suppose if Khan beat Barrera then went on to be a top class operator for the rest of his career the defeat wouldn't look so bad on MAB's record but I don't see that happening
I thought about picking Barrera because of Khan's chin. However, I have just bet on Khan. I'll stick my hand up and say that I think Khan will destroy Barrera tonight with a masterpiece performance. I've put money on a Khan win, and also another bet on Khan via stoppage. Hopefully Khan will have learned from the Prescott experience and from his new trainer. He has the size, speed and power that should be enough for him to see off an unmotivated and unprepared Barrera who is at the end of his career. Although I do admit, there is a chance of a KO from Barrera! I say the fight is 60-40 in Khan's favour. If Khan performs badly he will lose, if Barrera fights brilliantly Khan will lose, however, I think Khan performs good and Barrera not so good. :think UndisputedUK
Even if Khan wins and i think he will hes in a bit of a no win situation with knowledgeable boxing fans .. If he wins it's because Barrera is a shadow of what he used to be, if he loses then he's lost any credibility that he has left. Even if he beats Barrera and does it well, were does he go from there, theres probably about 10 fighters in this division that would beat Khan, including , Marquez Juan Diaz Guzman Romanov Casamayor Katsidis Julio Diaz David Diaz Prescott So 135 is a closed shop for Khan, he'd have to move up to 140 which isnt as flush with talent but even there you have, Hatton Pac Campbell Holt Torres Bradley Malignaggi Khan has never looked impressive to me and hes fought nobody anywere near world class ability, there is nowere he can go
Would someone please tell me what the running order for tonight will be? I know the SKY transmission starts at 9 pm. Specifically, when are Khan and Barrera expected to fight? Thank you.:good
i have been thinking EXACTLY that ^^ the MUST know barrera is faded now...otherwise its suicide for khans career,,,surely.
My money has been put on Khan, hope he pulls it out of the bag. Going for mid to late TKO from the boy from Bolton.
I'm shocked so many of you have went for Khan here's why!. Khan has quite possibly the worst chin ever!. MAB has 12 full rounds to land 1 or 2 good shots, if he does it will all be over. Khan has fought no one near this level. Khan has been hurt by a body shot, of a shot British level fighter, (Gomez). Khan has not even fought good domestic class yet. Khan may box clever to start with, but MAB has the skill and experience to pull him into his kind of fight. Even if MAB is badly shot which he may well be i still think he is levels above Khan. I think Warren is cutting his losses with Khan, he has a stable full of exciting young fighters, he now knows Khan will not make world class, his chin is simply to bad, he is always just a good shot from a brutal KO, Warren will be making £££££££££ tonight, and trying to reclaim the money he put out on a duff investment.
