the 90's was a great era for the HW division. We're not sure what the 2010s will bring. It could be awesome.

I agree, the 90s were a time in the HW that was if not golden, at least silver.....I was a teen and not a hardcore fight fan but I watched holy fights, foreman's comeback, the emergence of lennox lewis, and of course the famously dirty bowe and golota fights

    Aerreola = Mercer?!?!

This is a crazy list. 90's were so much better it isn't even a contest. Today's crop of HW's is just plain sad. Wlad is pretty good, but the drop-off in talent after him is very steep.

:good In the 90's heavyweights was the most popular weight class with the likes of tyson-holyfield-bowe-lewis.. so far this decade's heavyweight has been a joke. I mean there's not even 1 heavyweight in the top 10 pound 4 pound :patsch

The more titles we have has made the heavyweights much weaker than 1990. And in 1990 it was terrible also.

The amount of good heavyweight fights in the 90's will be hard to match. heres a few
    Ruddock V Dokes
Ruddock V Tyson I and II was good too
    Ruddock V Morrison
    Bowe V Holyfield I,II,III
Douglas V Tyson (8th round uppercut how Douglas gets up ill never know)
    Tua V Ike

There's alot more to go with that. I was am Ruddock fan if you didn't notice :yep

The 90's, like the 70's, were the golden years for Heavyweight boxing. The crop we currently have now is the worst talent wise I ever seen, maybe even worse than the 80's, at least you had Tyson and Homes. All we have now is Vitali who fights once in a blue moon, and a highly talented, but fragile champ in Wlad. It's like comparing Courtney Love (2000's) vs Jessica Beil (1990's) in a beauty contest, there really is no comparison.

Division is not what is was. Excitement is way down.

Even announcers plead for a ****in' fighter to clinch when in trouble...it's bull****.

I tend to agree with you. Tyson pre-jail was a special thing though, but the Klitschkos are the modern day Lennox Lewis. The division ain't that bad.

I agree that the period of 2000 to basically now has sucked no way does it even compare to the 80's I'm not arguing that point..I'm merely trying to say that i feel that the next decade starting in 2010 could be just as good or at least close to the level of the 1990's. A lot of the fighters I have listed are not established Heavys but they all have the potential to be something pretty good.

The Klitschko's will only be around for a few more years probably, after that all we have is Haye to carry us through the 2010's. The talent level in the division is so low it makes me sick sometimes, theirs only a select few I think would of been able to pick up a belt in the 90's.

The 2010's will not be much or any better than what we have now, it's a shame, but it's the truth. America seems to have no rising stars that can make any type of splash, and Europeans are to mechanical and boring for the most part to get anyones attention, not mention their lack of exciting personalities. You never know if the next Mike Tyson is right around the corner, but I honestly doubt it. Time will tell wether or not the Heavyweight division will continue on it's catatonic state or rise from the ashes with a new star waiting in the balance.

I feel that Chazz Witherspoon still has good potential even though He lost badly to Arreola..in today's age with four Belts floating around I think he'll win a title in the future. He's a good Boxer with not great pop but decent..he just fought the wrong kind of fight against Arreola and payed the price for it.
