We had alot of posters in here last night talking about how "skilled" Amir Khan is. Certain members of the media refer to Khan as being highly "skilled" as well. Let's have a discussion on the "skill" of Amir Khan.
he might be 2-3 years away from being the complete offensive package. he will always have his liabilities but some fighters make up for it with their offense and i think freddie could be the guy to show him the way. he could use a tad of work with his footwork/head movement but he is only 22 and hes definitely on the fast track.
he can box.....GREAT jab, great speed, great lateral movement, great combinations, doesn't stay inside for too long moves in and out, he might square up a bit too much, and that messes with his footwork some when he's trying to sidestep from time to time, but thats just nitpicked, so yeah the man can box, he's got skills
......... And you see it as all those things being connected? So having a "great" single weapon, fast and/or "great" movement, and fast speed equals being "a skilled boxer" in your mind? That doesn't just mean he has a "great" single weapon, movement, and speed? That means you have skill? Because you're fast? Because you have a good single punch, like a jab? Because you don't stay inside? Hmmmmmmmmmm... OK. I think I see where this "skill" **** is coming from. I get it now.
Unskilled. I suppose, technically, handspeed could be called a skill. I think learned, practiced techniques, when I think skills; I don't see many of these in his repetoire.
???....a skilled boxer, is a someone who can box skillfully, what kind of question is that? and part of being of being a skillful boxer, is having a great jab, meaning has the snap, and can double it, tripple it, etc...i saw the man throw 5jabs back to back to push MAB against the ropes, flurried, then move out the way before he can be hit but aside from khans GREAT, yes GREAT jab...he controlled the pace perfectly and for the most part never let MAB drag him into a position he didn't need to be in, such as being in the pocket on the receiving end of one of MAB's combininations or in the center of the ring or on the ropes not to mention he has everypunch in the book and throws very straight, keeps his elbows tucked in, and keeps his guard up before and after punching he showed everything a skillfull boxer needs, finesse, ring generalship, footwork, handspeed, and he made use of his reach, and he even showed me some good counterpunching from the outside, so to answer your question (again), yes Khan is a very skillful boxer
You're saying he can "box skillfully?" "Box skillfully?? That frantic in-and-out piston punching Pollock **** is skill to you?? I'm not trying to shoot you down, M, but there are your signature colorful and creative ideas about certain things in this sport (which I tend to enjoy for their freshness), and then there is REALITY. What are you talking about here, M? Bowling over a bunch of undersized, outgunned boxing tradesman plus one tiny legend - on pure physicality, youth, and physical advantages? Or the sort of GENUINE SKILL that's going to show up when Khan really has a ****ing fight on his hands? Eh??
and to continue this so you get the point, the best part of being a skill boxer, is making use of your attributes, while finding ways to hide your faults and Khan did this extremely well, made use of his size, reach, and speed, while he had that horrible little chin of his he's done well since he loss to Prescott in his last 2 fights, and he did what i expected him to do against a well past (potential shot) Barerra.....now i wanna see how far he can get without a chin, he needs to rematch Prescott to see if he can actually make himself into a worldchamp, cuzz if he can't beat Prescott who's not even an elite LW, he aint beating the best the division has to offer, and this division has alot of animals in it but all in all, you people dont know boxing if you dont think Khan has skills
Speed ok Evasion ok Latteral movements ok Head movement mid-ok Handspeed very good Power mid-ok Chin.... ummm not tested still... Lucky for him his speed saves his chin from being hit.
He has skills and potential to be a future superstar. The only thing that can stop his greatness is his shaky chin. I do hope that he can develop his chin while going up like cotto.
huh?, he did what he was supposed to....i never wanted him to fight MAB in the beginning, bcuzz i new after he whooped him there would be comments like this trying to downplay his performance, alot of people thought he would get KTFO'd, this was not a fight in which he was a heavy favorite, he went and there and did his job, and looked damn good doing it skill is skill, and he showed it in this perfromance, does that mean he'll show it against an elite LW? maybe, maybe not....we dont know yet, but what we do know is that he showed it last night, that is REALITY, not the fantasy or speculation you have about future performances
Who do you think you're talking to, **** SHOVELER? LMAO! BE REAL. You don't know much about boxing AT ALL. I'm trying to be nice to you, Monstar. You really don't know much about this game FOR ****. I've been reading your posts for months. BE REAL, DUDE. Sincerely, you aren't even on my list of people who knows **** about boxing on this forum - and there are plenty.
You're a creative debater, I've already said that, but it doesn't cover YOUR lack of SKILL, M. :rofl This has nothing to do with Barrera over here. Some of us on the forum already had this conversation a long ****ing time ago - before Barrera, before even Prescott. You are on some Barrera **** right now. That's who's on some Barrera ****.
i dont know **** huh, is that right?...then why dont you start by explaining to me how can didn't show any skill against MAB, cuzz you've yet to do that like ****....this ain't Myspace, i aint here to make friends, i'm here to talk boxing, and if you dont know what you're talking about then that defeats the whole purpose of you being on here, which is clearly the case here
