I won't expect to see you in a thread on the subject of who the most skilled fighters are then, because you can't get away with throwing a blanket on the subject there. You have to actually get into it.
well obviously i'm using his last fight as a measurement, they dont say "you're only as good as your last fight" for a reason....since he's been training with Roach, his skills have improved alot, thats undeniable, he's shown that he's learned from his KTFO at the hands of Prescott, if you think he's the same fighter he was when he was getting wobbled and dropped by guys like Limond, then you're mistaken, sure his chins the same, but he skills have improved drastically, but i suppose you know better then Pacman and Roach though right?
Khan has good power, great speed, good movement and a nice range of punches. There are big question marks of his defence and it seems he can't take a punch. Overall, I would rate his skill level as "good".
YES, it is right. No offense, but it only becomes a problem when you start getting careless about forcing your insular point of view out there on the subject of tactical boxing. DO NOT DO THAT ****. You don't know your stuff. DON'T PRETEND. It's offensive to those of us who dedicate the time and energy.
No, you're only as good as you actually are, and it is our responsibility as fans to know the difference.
his offense, is so far is, slightly better then good.. his defence is average. improved with a constant high guard. his overall game, is hindered by his chin, he often fights timid. He doestn have the luxury of opening up, as he seems fearfull of a counter. That hinders his skill-set immensly. so right now, i would say, that he is slightly above average, when it comes to skills.
Absolutely right. If Khan opens up trying to get his opponent out of there, ala Presscot, then there is always going to be a good chance he get's KO'd by a counter. He needs to adapt his style according, and wear his opponents down over a few rounds, and not go looking for the KO.
I was there last night, great atmosphere, as much as barerra says he was hindered he was too slow to get near him....my questions for khan are could he have kept it up for 12 rounds...personally i think if the cut had not have happened he could have gassed out by the 9th or 10th...not to say barerra would have ko'd him...but that khan would have hung on for a points win khans skill level, is still in the development stage...main improvement last night was the tight guard he had
elite... very good... good... average... i put khan currently on good. enough to win continental titles but not world titles @135.
khan has good skills at the moment 2 years down the line he will be showing elite skills... hopefully at light welter
I cant belive how naive some people are on here. MAB went on about not being able to see out or his left eye cos of the blood pouring into it. So whats his excuse for being hit with constant left jabs and left hooks on his good side?
Fantastic boxer, amazing speed, lightning fas jab, defense getting better and better, world class offense, average power. He's still far from his true potential, but will get there. But the chin is a huge letdown. On a skill level, he's currently between good and elite. If you count punch resistence as a skill, good is your answer.
you can not argue khan has top boxing skills. his dodgy chin is his down fall. he would have to have a career avoiding the big hitters.
Khan has an abundance of speed and athleticism as well as sound punching technique. But boxing skill is more about how you implement those assets to overcome an opponent and their specific abilities. Trinidad was another fighter who was quick and had speed and technique but he didn't have the skills to fully implement those attributes to their best against every given opponent. Khan in terms of actual boxing skill is decent but he has shown improvements under Roach and will continue to do so. I still think Khan is overly aggressive at times and needs to work on his counter punching.
