Lee McAllister back to winning ways tonight at his spiritual home, the Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen, under the expert guidance of Dave Coldwell. (Just kissing your ass Dave for spoiling the Khan result for you!) The Aberdeen Assassin won 79 - 73 against a strong opponent, French Coupe de la Ligue champion, Abdoulaye Soukoula. A strong undercard saw former Scottish amateur champion, Eddie Doyle go to 2 - 0 against the vastly experienced Daniel Thorpe. Ref Andrew Wright saw it 58 - 57, and to be honest, most at ringside agreed that it could have easily gone either way. Another former Scottish amateur champion, Willie Bilan was insensed when referee Wright awarded the win to another Coldwell boxer, Paul Royston by 58 - 57. Although Royston went in with only 3 wins from 33 contests, it must be noted that he has never been stopped and 2 of his previous 3 wins were by KO. The other contest saw former Commonwealth bronze medalist Andrew Young stop Lee Mountford at 1:44 of the second round, having just dropped him for an eight count. Young goes to 2 - 1, both his wins inside the distance. His defeat was a shock first round stoppage on his debut. For a small provincial show, the atmosphere that McAllister generates at the Beach Ballroom is incredible and rivals any venue in the country, you really have to experience it to believe it.
How much were tickets for this? thought about going but didnt want to pay the £40 they were charging for his last fight against the Romanian boy at the AECC. Especially when there was much better fights on TV tonight.
Sorry, mate, I don't know. It was a dinner show so it wouldn't have been cheap. I think that it was a sell out though, I didn't see any empty tables.
Lee was alot better than i thought against Murray, made him look silly for the first few rounds, shame his game plan and fitness went out the window.
Yeah he was saying in the local press that his game plan went out the window and he was just letting Murray hit him and getting cocky. He said that won't be happening again. I'm just wondering if he is going to step up in weight now. As this is another fight at light-welter.
He's a good fighter, but he needs to stop fighting in the dark recesses of Aberdeen and start fighting legitimate opposition on TV shows or he may as well retire. He's got the talent to be a decent domestic fighter, maybe even a champion but he's wasting his time up there.
Apparently he performs better in the gym at 10st 7ish...... Be nice if Mr Coldwell pops on and we can discuss what his plans are...... Just shows what decent matchmaking does.... First Khan gets some ESB fans, then I actually feel interested in Lee's future....
Very true but probably earns good cash fighting in Aberdeen with sell out crowds all the time. I'm just not sure who he should fight next!
Must do, it was packed when we boxed. Aberdeen is a lovely place. One of the nicest places i've been to in the UK. I think he should fight Scott Lawton or Wullie. I don't think he'd beat Wullie but its the type of fight thatwould make sense for both camps if it was a BR elim or similar. Alternativey a fight with the new Euro champ would be interesting. Problem is Lee's fitness will always let him down in tough fights. We'll see.
