some people dislike Khan and DeGale because of the colour of there skin, no doubt about it.

You are missing the point, the question isnt why MAB got a good reception. The question is why Khan was heavily booed from weigh in to ring walk to intro. And dont say he its because he is cocky thats a blatant lie.

firstoff not everyone in that arena wouldent have been there to see khan, while the majority of the ppl therr would have been there to see khan i bet a few thousand would have been tickets sold by other fighters fighting on the undercard, and we cant assume that they like khan ,can we?

i was there when khangot embarrised by prescott, but i was there to see Arthur /cook ,wasent overly botherd by khan .

you cant say that ppl dont like him because of his skin colour, you have to appricate some ppl who take there boxing serious are pissed off with the way khan has been thrown down our throats and he gets all the media and plaudits for fghting below par fighters (for most of his career) when there are other fighters out there who really deserve(on merit) to have some of that attn.

just my take mate, but if anyone dislikes him co of his skin colour (that is what your implying, unless i have it wrong) are just a bunch of racist pricks who need there small heid examined.

It's utter pish to say that the only reason people dislike Khan, or DeGale is because of the colour of their skin. it may be true of some people, but David Beckham got more abuse than Khan and is white, a better footballer than Khan is a boxer and not as cocky.

Khan has the same kind of celebrity status and people hate him too. Nothing new.

It was a disgrace. I was ashamed and angry. People could have cheered Barrera and left Khan alone. Khan does not deserve to be booed. If he is such a con, then why come to see his fights?

People boo at sports events. It's no big deal.

If anything it used to be worse than it is now. Has everyone forgotten the abuse Eubank used to get? Wherever he was fighting he used to sell tickets for his training sessions and give the money raised by doing it to local charities. People used to buy the tickets, go to his training sessions and give him abuse at them, and he was that bothered that he kept doing it until he retired.

When the whole essence of boxing is to 'fight' it's hard to feel any sympathy for boxers that get stick. like their precious, sensitive wee flowers.

Yeah, I remember that gem from Warren.

It was strange because I honed in on Gale quite early in the night, and there was a massive queue of people lined up to get his autograph. When he was announced though the whole arena erupted in catcalls (I clapped politely).

I was very surprised, I have to admit. He didn't deserve that.

    Those damn Rogan fans:twisted:

Barrera's reception was amazing; the whole arena rose up and cheered him to the ring.

I have to admit that I was really surprised by the reception for Khan.

I happened to be surrounded by a bunch of Barrera fans in the lower tier and some of the stuff they were coming off with when Khan was walking to the ring was well out of the line. I had one particularly ignorant twat right behind me who, during the fight itself, alternated between calling Barrera a **** and then Khan a ****; ie:

"Come on Marco ya ****! hit him on the chin!"

    AND

"Come on Marco, stop fannying about and twat that glass-jawed **** on the chin!"

No pleasing some people, I guess:-(

What colour is Bradley Price, Herbie Hyde, Micheal Sprott?

Why does Danny Williams get cheers when Audley Harrison gets jeers?

Race is the lazy card, and the wrong card. The guys who get jeers have just one thing in common... they have been sold only to the general public and not to the fans who buy tickets.

Prince Naseem never got booed at home and we all know how cocky he was.... it was pathetic... it was in his hometown too... its also said considering how few British talents there are in the game

its a fair enough comment not everyone was there for Khan infact some of my mates watched the manchester fighters like vassel, crolla, hall and then went.

i wasnt actually saying its because of the skin colour though, (although it might have a factor) i just think that we have a home grown talent who's won us a medal at the olympics for our country and we boo the guy? fair enough he has a glass chin and i dont think he'll be a world beater on the pro game but he's from our country and we should stick by him. we still stick by the england team who have potential to be the best but just suck when they play together but when they come out at the start of the match we dont jeer them.

dont get me wrong im not losing any sleep over it just think we should be with our fellow brits not against them.
