Obviously now might be a bad time to ask, given the state of the division but it seems rare that Heavyweights getting into the lists. I know there's a lot of hate for P4P right now but I love the discussions. When Lennox Lewis was on top, he almost never made the list and other than Holy and Tyson, I can't think of any in recent memory that made the top-10. What, if any, heavy's have you ranked in your top-10?

I think HW's as a rule should not be there, because they contradict the concept. You look at a guy like Klitshcko or Valuev and they outweigh opponents by 50 - 100 pounds sometimes....

Having said that a small HW (Like Tyson) or someone who has moved up to HW and was proven elsewhere (like Holy) can qualify.

Take a guy like Vitali, his ability to beat opponents has a LOT to do with his size, reach, weight etc. If he was shrunk down to a guy like Hattons size and weight and fought Ricky, he gets murdered. Same with a most HW's, not all.

Both Klits, Valuev to name the most prominent. not to say they cannot fight and are only good because they are big - they are talented but their styles and therefore success is largely based on utilising their physical advantages over opponents.

Tyson on the other hand is a monster however small you shrink him.

i wonder though if Wlad would be more respected for the same accomplishments (consistent defenses, usually dominating opponents, beating numerous top-10 fighters) if he were in a lower weight class.

I have Vitali in my p4p. His ability is alot more than just size. He is a dominant fighter and very versatile with good defence and can counterpunch. His chin is incredible and he has good power and heart.

    thats how i see it.

good call on Vitali. He and Wlad are on the brink of mine. It's tough because like you said size factors into it and how much is true talent and how much is just being a ****ing monster

you are clueless. Vitali Klitschko should be the pound 4 pound #1 in the World. Not one fighter in the World today could beat him. None. Pound 4 pound is all fantasy and myth anyway. It is all conjecture.

if you want to use the size argument look at Valuev. He has 5 inches and about 70 pounds on Vitali Klitschko. Do you think Valuev has a chance against Vitali? Vitali Klitschko would **** that big joke. Just being big should not discount you from p4p status because size is not everything skill is.

well it is very subjective but that's the same as head to head discussion or even divisional rankings. There's no science to it but that doesn't make them less real. Yes, Vitali would probably beat everyone on the planet but does that make him the best or just the biggest?

read my other post. there are several Heavyweights that are taller and weight more than Vitali. Being the biggest means nothing.

    Ranked where?

I think Vitali is greatly helped as a fighter by his size - his lean back style is essentially based on his height and just as importantly reach.

To be fair he does has other things going for him, his chin is great and his power good. Its not like he would be useless without his size, but I feel his skills are a little basic, and he is not great mover. His lean back style makes him hard to hit, take his size away and I think he gets tagged a lot more.

Its very hard to say really, and whats to say that if he was indeed 6-1 and 215 pounds he would have developed his skills and style differently with the talent he has and be an equal force?

But its that question mark which leads me and most others to believe that most HW's, and particulalry those with significant height and weight advantages should not be ranked p4p.

But if Vitali weren't a heavyweight, how would he do? Not saying he wouldn't do well but I think that's the question. Would he have the skills to compete at say
    middleweight?

Shrink a prime lewis down and he would be a monster size isn't everything skills have to come into it
