Why aren't InterBox promoting Adrian Diaconu?

I saw this article and thought the question needed to be asked.

    http://www.montrealgazette.com/Sports/Bute+reveals+*****+armour/1387673/story.html

"One of the many interested ringside observers is World Boxing Council light-heavyweight champ Adrian Diaconu – like Bute, a fellow Romanian and his former InterBox stablemate. Diaconu’s preparing to defend his title April 10, in Rome, against Italian veteran Silvio Branco.

It was approximately a year ago Diaconu and InterBox went their separate ways; the promoter electing not to renew its agreement with the fighter, although Diaconu believes, now that he’s champ, a reconciliation could be inevitable.

“I’m disappointed,” said Diaconu, 30. “I would have really liked to have fought here, in front of my fans. I live here and people know me. But it’s not me, it’s management. Behind the ring, there’s lots of business going on.

“But this isn’t about me. Something’s not working for the moment. But I’m spectacular and I like to fight. I’m a warrior. I know I can bring thousands of people in (to the Bell Centre). I hope very soon to fight here.”

Diaconu, 25-0 with 15 knockouts, hasn’t fought since last April, when he scored a unanimous decision against Chris Henry for the WBC’s Interim 175-pound title. That made Diaconu the mandatory challenger for Chad Dawson. But Dawson contacted the WBC last July, informing it he had no intention of fighting Diaconu and was relinquishing the championship.

Were Diaconu still with InterBox, the Montreal promoter might have won the purse-bid for his upcoming bout. InterBox certainly has the capital to have made a substantial offer. Instead, Sauerland, Branco’s German-based promoter, won the bid with an offer of $377,777 U.S. The only consolation to Diaconu is he’ll receive a 60 per cent cut, or $227,000.

“I’m not afraid to go there,” Diaconu said. “I’m a pro and I’ll fight anywhere.”
Diaconu will relinquish age and experience – not to mention the homecourt advantage – to Branco, a 42-year-old veteran who has been in the ring 68 times, going 57-9-2 with 34 KOs. Like Diaconu, Branco’s coming off a lengthy layoff, having last fought almost a year ago.

Diaconu also is fresh off a fractured right hand last October – the second time in his career it has been broken. He also makes no apologies for winning the title outside the ring. “It’s not my fault Dawson didn’t want to fight me,” he said. “I fought Henry for the Interim title. I deserve it.”"

    Because they're dicks............................joking.

Diaconu has said many times he and Interbox didn't get along on money terms. That's why he took one yea off in 2004.He wanted to change promoters at a time, there were some talks of Don King.........then he said he doesn't wanna change promoters.Altough technically I think Interbox is still his promoter. They just don't give a damn.

I wonder what Diaconu really has to offer any promoter at this current time other than the fact that he is a beltholder. He didn't look particularly good against Henry last year and a win over the well-travelled and shopworn Branco isn't going to garner him any further acclaim. I don't know what takes place behind closed doors but I'm guessing that Interbox just doesn't think as much of Diaconu as he thinks of himself. He certainly didn't look spectacular (as he says) in his last outing and Branco's savvy enough to ensure that he probably won't look that way on April 10th either.

Bute looked like he really wanted to prove a point. Zuniga looked pretty bad though but Bute was awesome.

Same, I really wish I could support Khan but I find it hard to when he's making dumb **** comments and picking on lard-arse old blind legends.

when you fight a guy who's older than you he relinquishes age to you, not the other way around  who wrote that article????

anyways if interbox isn't promoting Diaconu its probably because they couldn't come to terms on the $$

What do you mean ''1 fight contracts''?

Diaconu isnt very good....His two best wins were recently downgraded being that Henry lost to a supermiddle, and Hoye wasnt good enough to make it to the finals on the contender.

All I know is that April will be a horrible month for Italian boxing fans.
