I have a son that is 2,thats likes boxing already!!!:happy One day we went to Wal-Mart and i had to get some meds. so we had to wait about an hour and i'm walking around the store showing him all the toys and we walk pass the gloves and training gear...the kid goes crazy like "Oh daddy..i want boxing gloves..i need em", that had to be the best feeling in the world!!! My kid likes my favorite sport..and everyday since then,he gets his gloves and brings me the pads and say "Daddy i wanna fight" and after i put on his gloves he says "i'm ready"..its great!! I always wanted my son to box but would never try and force it on him but i think i got a young world champion on my hands. It crazy because I always said he was here for a reason..to do something Great!! My son fell 35 feet out of a window when he was 1 1/2 and only broke his heel bone. And after that happening and him coming out without being really hurt..i knew he was something special!!! Talk about a steel chin...this boy got a steel body too!!! Do anybody have any kids that like the sport too?
God bless him. It seems that today is a British bashing day. I don't get into any of that crap. My son sparred at five with a seven year old without my knowledge. He was with his seven and nine year sisters in my neighbors yard. According to my daughters, my son Felix beat him, but then the other kid took his gloves off and started shoving my son around. He did not know what he did wrong and my seven year old daughter who I also taught how to box and even beat a boy her size, weight and age. Actually, he was my star pitcher for our LL team. He is now going on 14, but I don't train him anymore due to headaches he gets sometimes. I have a grandson coming so maybe I might get lucky there. Your absolutely correct, never push them to a sport you love. Let it be their choice. I'm thinking about training myself and then training others again. I am always approached to find out if I can train. I got the bug again so I will try one more time just to be in top shape.
My son would box for sure. He's gonna be 9 next month. I'd really like to get him into a gym but they're pretty hard to come by up in these parts. Joey Gamache's grandfather had a gym for a while, but it closed.
I got a lil girl thats 7 and she was playin with him and they starting boxing(remember he's only 2) and my lil girl is heavy handed. So she was landing some good shots and he was just laughing and kept trying to fight her(of course i made them stop). And he was so mad because i took the gloves away
Its so funny because he just came home(he spent the nite with his mother)and 5 minutes after he came in the door he said "Daddy, where's my gloves?"...i love this kid!!!
Sounds like Maine. He might have to travel to Massachussetts to get him into a decent gym. Lowell, Lawrence, Somerville, Boston are cities with gyms. Well, it has been a while since I have been to Beantown.
sounds like he has the heart, encourage him and dont put him into a fight until he has a good idea about the full game of boxing and his confidence is sufficiently high.
