With Vernon Forrest rumoured to be fighting AA in the summer I guess the WBC title will become vacant so who do you want Martinez to fight for the title?

    WBC top 15 below:

    1. Alfred Angulo (Mexico) LATINO
    2. Ricardo Mayorga (Nicaragua)
    3. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (Mexico)
    4. David Lopez (Mexico)
    5. Yuri Foreman (Belarussia) NABF
    6. James Kirkland (US)
    7. Ronald Hearns (US)
    8. Jamie Moore (GB)
    9. Sergio Mora (US)
    10. Ryan Rhodes (GB) BBB C/INTL
    11. Alex Bunema (Congo)
    12. Kermit Cintron (P. Rico)
    13. Bongani Mwelase (South Africa)
    14. Christophe Canclaux (France)
    15. Daniel Edouard (Haiti)
Hope Jamie Moore gets a shot personally :happy

If Forrest vacates, Martinez will be elevated to full champion. He will not have to fight for a vacant title.

Yeesh, those rankings are a complete joke! There's some talent at 154 now, but Martinez could fight those guys for the next 3 years without facing a serious threat.

but as far as opponents go

Angulo, i'd say he's ready for a title shot
Mayorga (depending on how much he has left)
Chavez JR?....last time i saw him he was still fightin cans, i'm not even sure if he's faced a world class fighter yet
i'd say Yuri's as ready as he'll ever be
Kirkland's in the same boat as Yuri
Hearns to me still looks far too green, all i see is potential and not much substance

out of those guys i wanna see him in with Angulo, Kirkland, Mayorga, or Chavez

i'd like that too, but i'd 1st prefer to see him defend his title in America, so people are actually a little bit interested in this fight, cuzz alot of people have never even seen him fight b4

Agree, but the talent is still green. I have seen Yuri fight a couple of times and I am not impressed. Kirkland or Angulo winning a tilte at this time would be like Khan winning a title with a real weak champion or vacate title. To me the top 154 contenders are just that, green for the exeption of Mayorag, Oscar if he comes back to fight, Spinks, Martinez, Santos, and Dz (WBO champ). It will get better in a year or so.

Is he the interim champ? If so, I did not know this.

Foreman can box on the outside well, but has little power. There are certain good fighters at 154 I think he could beat (i.e., Cory Spinks, Verno Phillips, maybe even Vernon Forrest), but I think Martinez's speed would cause him fits.

Forest may not have to vacate. Remember Pavlik has had 2 fights above 160 since being champ and kept the belts. If it's a 1-off for Forrest, he could keep the belt.

Actually, I would not mind seeing him fight Spinks. I just think Spinks is too experienced and crafty for Mr. Foreman.

As long as it's not Yuri Foreman vs Sergio Martinez. That would be the most boring fight in the history of the universe.

Sergio Martinez' first title defense should be a rematch against Kermit Cintron or a fight against JCC Jr. Either of those two fights would amuse me greatly.

I see the same BS fight with Cintron. JCC, JR., well that would amuse me too. I thought Martinez was set to fight Pavlik? What happened to that? It would have been a better fight then Mora.
