Barker is a good skilled european level fighter,He has always come across as abit arrogant or maybe thats just the brit in him. He was supposed to win the athens olympics (according to himself and his trainers) untill Andy Lee hammered him in Qualifying. So i think in calling out Duddy at this stage he is overshooting yet again and underestimating the Irish boys. There was talk of Duddy fighting at home this year, well Duddy Barker for the commenwealth title in Belfast would be one i'd love to see.A big stoppage win for the Duddy man.:thumbsup
who was barker fighting paddy? not much chat on here about matt macklin, i was hugely impressed with his performance on saturday. theres so many huge fights that can be made out there with irish guys between 154-168 duddy, lee, magee, sutherland, macklin, o sullivan, moore etc not too optimistic for the next couple years though
thats what im trying to figure out! maybe some one on here mixed him up with some one else! i havent seen anything on boxrec
Barker was not fighting this weekend. He is one of Mick Hennessy boys and he tops his cards when fighting on itv4. His last fight was against Jason McKay, he was very impressive that night. Before that he fought on Sky and Eurosport. Hes very good, has all the moves but would not be as strong as Duddy. I think Duddy could wear him down and stop him.:yep
I thought it was a bit strange myself thats why I was asking on here as i couldnt find anything about this magical fight where he was nearly knocked out! couldnt see anything on boxrec after the McKay fight! maybe some one typo'd anyways Duddy-Barker kings hall anyone?
That would be a good fight, but unlikely to happen. I dont think Duddy wants to go down the British or Commonwealth road. :think
Ive just got a chip on my shoulder ever since Barker came on the boxing hour saying he'd outbox Duddy.....:smoke
5 days to go to dunne... i hope dunne builds up a points lead in the first 7-8-9 rounds cause i think he'll be blowing a bit when he gets past that stage...but he's fast, very skillful..gets his range right...and i'm not convinced that he's THAT chinny as some say... i'd be a lot more confident saying all that but looking at some youtube of cordoba he's a long range boxer too...and a good un...any other style and i'd be a bit more confident of dunnes chances...i cant actually get my head round how dunne deals with him..just hope dunnes speed is the winning card...but i am sure he'll have to coast the last few rounds...
i have seen a lot of barker also...i know his brother [who was also a top amateur boxer] died in a car crash after watching darren fight...it kept darren out for a year...i dont know if he could beat duddy but it would be a close fight between the two bernard has a mountain to climb....but the noise of 9000 screaming irishmen should help him no end....is it a full house ...anyone from the forum going
I don't like Dunne's chance's either as Cordoba look's like a stronger bigger hitting version of Dunne. However we all could play our part on Saturday night. 9000 mad roaring Irishmen and one mad roaring Scotsman (Me) could give Dunne a massive boost and put the fear of god into this Panamanian fella! Well that's the hope anyway. COME ON BERNARD!!!!:bbb:happy
We cant under estimate the power of the fans in the point! hopefully the prawn sandwich fans stay at home for this one! :hey:yep We need a partizan atmosphere no one wants to go and play fernabache away.
