I gotta go with Morales in this one.

    Superior competition and wins.

Morales. Joe never fought any elite fighters in their prime.

  5. Calzaghe.... Morales had 2 great wins - but not much else... very great wins - but Joe's longetivity and other achievements trump Morales

    They're in the same ballpark.

Morales' resume is better but Calzaghe has the better physical attributes.

 Joe doesn't have any great wins. His best wins against Kessler and he's not heading to the HOF.

  8. Kessler still has time to shape his legacy. Unless you're saying joe isn't heading to the HOF - then I'd suggest you reevaluated your opinion... But I think you mean Kessler...

Also - wars are overrated as a great win when compared to comfortable/dominating wins....

Joe will be in the HOF. Kessler needs to help Joe out and beat some elite 168/175 lbers for it to be considered a great win.

As of right now Kessler doesn't have a legacy.
If in a few years if he get's some great win's under his belt then and only then can he be counted as a great win for Calzaghe.

im surprise with the lopsided poll compared to lopez-calzaghe, delahoya-calzaghe and trinidad-calzaghe...

does it mean that morales rankes higher than dela hoya, trinidad and lopez

I'd have Morales ahead of DLH and Lopez but just behind Trinidad.

most mexicans ranked lopez way ahead of morales..and i took that largely that's why i have modern welter greats and lopez ahead of morales...i think i have to reconsider my rankings of morales, barerra and nelson

Dare I say that it might be because Erik "blood and guts" Morales is more loved by fight fans than the other three?

In any case he still a good distance ahead of Calzaghe in my books, regardless of the tinted spectacles.
