Let's be honest here. Simon was pretty much an unknown. I all but begged for information about him before the fight. No one seemed to know anything about him. Well kept secret or AA struggles with weight? Probably something in between, but we need to see more from Simon. This performance should have earned him some shots at higher level guys than he has been fighting so far.

I'll tell you this right now though. Pop in Pavlik/Taylor 2 and watch it back to back with this fight. You will see a difference.

Remember what Piped was saying about the people who were boxing ignorant that had paid some good money to sit close? Let's get real here folks. We constitute a very small part of the paying public. And many times they want to know their guy wins in advance. And that's the way it is.............

I could dig up the Vindicator article if you like. :D

“Nothing has been decided until we meet with Kelly and Mike [Pavlik] Sr. and Cameron next week,” said Arum.

That article is from March 13.... So that just means sometime this week. You may have gotten it from another source. That is the only one I know.

The term of paper champ is completely made up by fans (including it's requirements to be one) and it's used to discredit titleholders no matter how good they are as fighters and how well they defend their titles against the same opponents they would have probably fought regardless if they did beat a reigning champ the get the belt or not. I think it's completely unfair and disrespectful for a fighter who is just doing his job to the best of his ability to start being called a paper champ just because his opportunity came in form of a vacant title shot and he hasn't had the chance to unify. Arthur Abraham is not a paper champ, he's a title holder who's looking for a way to fight the lineal champ.

    Good points.

By some folks definition, we couldn't call JMM the lightwt champ. He's only a paper champ.

He didn't beat a lightweight champ to get his title, but rather, fought Diaz for the vacant title.

So JMM is only a paper champ.

I really hope hey have a good showing against Mora .

I really don't beleive Loew has the experince ,to help Pavlik if he is down on the cards to give him the best advice to make the right adjustments ..

Last time he talked like this Kelly was out boxed by Hopkins with relative ease ..

This is a stupid post my freind. Think about it. You're actually drawing a comparison between Sergio Mora and Benard Hopkins:patsch

If Mora at any point opens up enough to actually try to win the fight, he'll get domlished on the spot. If he runs all night, he'll last 8 to 9 rounds. Two middleweights have lasted past 8 with Kelly, and they both quit on their stools at the end of 9. 5 of them were better fighters than Mora.

If Abraham will be easy work then please make it happen, we want to see how Pavlik will make "easy" work out of Abraham with the limited abilities he has.

Jack Leow should show us Plan B, C, D and E, we're looking forward to those plans.

But I thought Pavlik's camp wasn't doing anything to make this fight happen?

Good post. Boorad was saying the same things about Hop that he is saying about AA lol. Pav and camp were forced to fight Hop because Arum got greedy. Now that three of Arum's fighters have lost...Pac is fighting softies, and so are Pavlik and Cotto. After being dominated or ko'd, you have that right to get a win under your belt against a softie...but don't criticize AA calling him a paper champ, and dissing his comp lol...and blow your fighter up as being the best, or true champion lol. Pav still lost badly to 43 year old man. BB, don't expect Pav to fight AA anytime soon.

I don't either. Loew is a phony to me, and he was exposed in the Hop fight as a man who can't change his fighters game plan.

I think if Kelly moves to 168 he needs to hire a new trainer. He won't be able to overpower everyone at 168 like he does now. His opponents will be as big as he is, so he'll need someone to teach hime more than just the basics. I think it will be a tough pill to swallow, but I think it needs to happen. Jack has done a lot for Kelly and he should stay with the team, but you need to add new faces with new ideas to help make Kelly a more diverse fighter. Realize his full potential.
