If they fought the fight would last maybe 90 seconds. Haye vs McCline makes more sense I think. McCline would at least put up a decent fight.
Fighting as a heavyweight is obvously a bigger challenge than at crusierweight. However, Haye must face a contender or someome like Toney or McCline next.
Of course it makes more sense...but since when has boxing promotion/management made sense? For what it's worth, I reckon Haye would knock Arreola out, I like Arreola but reckon Haye could stay out of range well enough to avoid the big punches and deliver some of his own.
Agreed :good It's too bad boxing wasn't structured tournament style like tennis is. Unfortunately, it's strictly business so marketability trumps ability :-(
If a fighter could physically perform for 10 rounds once a month, you would see more tournament style boxing. But realistically, a fighter is only capable of fighting at the elite level, maybe 3 times a year. So, inevitably, the management and the promoters want the best situations for their fighters, monetarily and stylistically. Like them or not, the sanctioning bodies are necessary factions in this day and age. It is the only chance an up and coming fighter has in landing that "big" fight.
Key word is "almost". I thought it was a good test for Chris... having to get up, focus and pull out the win.. What do the fans expect today.. a fighter that never gets punched, never gets knocked down, never losses, and KO's every guy he faces in highlight reel style?nutnut
I agree... I think too many people are 1) discounting the quality of opponent Travis Walker was and 2) not giving Arreola enough credit for overcoming the kind of adversity he faced. I thought it really showed how tough Chris Arreola truly is...he was able to impose his will on a live opponent during the same round in which he was hurt badly. This kid is not only physically tough but mentally tough as well...he will be a tough opponent for anyone in the division...including both Klitschko bros. And especially now that he knows that he can deal with a little bit of adversity.
Haye is not going to risk fighting a dangerous Heavyweight to protect his Glass Jaw. He will fight handpicked fighters over and over until he gets Klitschko.
Almost KOed? Arreola was up at 3. How is that almost getting KOed? If that is the case then Haye was almost KOed by Mormeck and Barrett (yes it was a knockdown) :roflatsch
