Teddy Atlas will be biased as Hell against Vitali, watch and see. ESPN hates the Klitschkos to the extreme, but this fight is better than their others by far. Gomez is going to try and steal a decision by running and fake fighting, hoping the judges will cheat Vitali out of a win. I think Vitali will catch Gomez no matter how much he runs.
You just don't get it do you? Poor thing. :-( You're just like some weak minded sniveling kid. When over-matched in a discussion/debate, you (just like a snot-nose kid) want things to apply to others that you damn sure won't apply to yourself. Back away from the STRAW MEN, Widdow Faker and stop sucking Klitschko's dick. Develop some SKILLS OF ENGAGEMENT instead of showing just how weak your position is by abandoning your oft claimed FAKER posture. You act like you're at war (with yourself). And you know the first thing sacrificed in that kind of situation. Have some principles you stick to instead of behaving like a spoiled brat. Again, let me repeat......you have twisted MANY things on this forum to no avail .....you can argue intent all day......I am arguing the effect upon me of what you said. I put the things you have said together and formed my conclusions. There is nothing that you can do to refute that interpretation because its water under the bridge.
Cause its in the afternoon. ESPN taking this fight on is huge. think about it? Saturday afternoon on ESPN. Its not Friday night fights we're talking about
Good for ESPN. Again, that's not my argument. I'm well aware of the broadcast time. However you must remember from a financial stand point it would be futile for HBO and Showtime to pay German promoters and TV to broadcast this lowly regarded fight in the U.S. under these conditions. HBO and Show would be lucky if they broke even putting up their own money to show this fight.
Good points. Thanks for the thoughtful post. :good VK can blow guys up, though. Ask Herbie Hide. And he fights at a fast pace. But you're right -- his style (the 'lean back') isn't always the most exciting. On the other hand, his fights with Lewis and Sanders were barn burners because the opposition was either big, fast and/or skilled enough to take the fight to him and make him work. But if you're not so capable (Peter), then it becomes, as you said, a methodical TKO beatdown. Widdow -- Man, I cant wait!!! good
If HBO can put money into Wlad vs Ibragimov they can sure as hell put money into any Vitali fight. They would definately break even and I'm sure they would barely have to put any money into since the production is not theirs they would just be borrowing the feed. It make financial sense but in this case HBO could probably simply not find the time slot, and VK is probably not even interested in showtime. In fact its possible that HBO tried to get the fight but that VK thought ESPN was more interesting since its available to more viewers.
For ESPN to take this type of fight (not being the most competitive), the fight is big enough. They will get enough viewers, they don't need to promote it. Its not being promoted because its not a huge competitive fight and because Vitali is simply not that big in the states, in part for him not being too entertaining.
LOL Vitaly was a late and unknown replacement for Lewis and for Sanders...:rofl:rofl:rofl...are you serious...big, fast and/or skilled enough....
I don't know what HBO and Showtimes' current financial standing is at the moment but rest assure the economy has drastically change since the Ibragimov fight. Nobody wants to take risk these days - not even a power house network.
well I'm just saying i think Klitschko is broadcasting this fight in the US more like an advertisement than to make money. I'm sure most of his money wil come from Europe. So that being said i don't think its a major investment for a US network to pick up this fight, and also ESPN is the perfect network since it has a broader reach and is a sports network. The target audience is the same. Also, I believe that Vitali's style is very marketable. Thats just my opinion. I think that ESPN will be quite satisfied with this venture. time will tell I also think its good for boxing as a whole to have a heavyweight title fight between two skilled heavyweights broadcast on a saturday afternoon to practically the entire USA. Gomez has fast hands and a slick style. Vitali has a mean streak and likes to throw bombs. This is not a repeat of Wlad vs Ibragimov.
In this economy people are dropping HBO and Showtime like a bad habit. PPV only appeals to a small base of hard core fans. It's in Boxings best business interests to broadcast on ESPN and start appealing to a larger audience. They should be advertising this fight as much as possible. :good
What I can't understand is why HBO is willing to buy Tarver vs Dawson II and not Vitali vs JCG? You can't tell me that there is more interest in the Dawson fight...we've already witnessed that product and it wasn't that good. At least in this fight, there is the good possibility of a KO. I just can't understand the logic behind this one. If it were a money issue, ESPN wouldn't be showing the fight either. This Saturday's fight would be on Pay-per-view. HBO really dropped the ball on this one...unless it was K2's intent to place Vitali on a more network TV format. Let's face it, more people have access to ESPN than HBO. I am just really shocked that ESPN isn't trying to hype this fight any more...I'm still waiting to here about it on ESPN radio or one of their morning TV shows like "first take" or "Mike and Mike". Instead of showing famale billiards or strongman competitions during the day, ESPN could be running promotional spots to generate more interest in this fight.
You do realize that Vitali and Lewis already had a scheduled fight for later that year don't you? I'm sure that you don't because it seems like you haters never have a clue what the facts are. That card was actually supposed to be a build up to their fight against each other, which is why Vitali was on the undercard.
