    - Bernard Hopkins, who was one fight removed from being the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world and who was still considered by many to be in the Top 5 pound-for-pound at the time.

    - Winky Wright, who was a consensus top three pound-for-pound fighter at the time along with the likes of Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. Jermain Taylor showed that he was willing to take risks as he faced 2 top pound-for-pound fighters in his first two consecutive title defenses.

    - Kassim Ouma, who although was moving up in weight from junior middleweight, Ouma had beaten the best at 154 with wins over Sechew Powell, Marco Antonio Rubio (Pavlik would get Ouma's leftovers), Kofi Jantuah, and Vince Phillips. Ouma wasn't seen as a threat, but when you've faced Bernard Hopkins twice in a row and Winky Wright following that, you deserve somewhat of a break.

You are a complete *******. Pavlik's first two defenses were mandatories. And let's not leave out he was pursuing a fight with Joe Calzaghe. :hi:

Pursuing a fight and actually fighting are kind of different.

Pavlik is a fraud of a champion and his middleweight defenses back it up.

Well congratulations on once again proving you are a complete *******. Ignoring his first two defenses were mandatories. Your complete lack of knowledge in this matter has earned you a coveted spot on my ignore list. Again, congratulations on being a COMPLETE idiot. Some people are born that way, others have to work to attain that lowly goal. I'm sure you acquired yours both ways. :thumbsup

    :lol::lol::lol:

You're more defensive than Kelly Pavlik after he was hit by one of Bernard Hopkins' power shots.

No, Jermain was a true middleweight champion because he actually faced his top contenders, one of whom was Kelly Pavlik.

If only Pavlik would grant other contenders the same privilege, he would also be considered a true champion. But as of right now, he's a disgrace of a middleweight champion.

I assume you are talking about the same Arthur Abraham who just lost 4 rounds to the #43 middleweight; a guy who has been living off Bronco McKart's left overs took 4 ****ing rounds from your so called #1 contender.

Pavlik has had 4 fights since he left "the true middleweight champion" slumped in a heap on the canvass. In the first he scored a very clear UD over your "true middleweight champion." In the 3rd he went 12 rounds with Bernard Hopkins while sick and injured. Your so called #1 contender ducked Fulgencio Zuniga so he could fight Elvyn Ayala for christ's sake!

Yes, I am talking about Arthur Abraham. Because objectively speaking, his accomplishments have earned him the status as Pavlik's #1 contender. And yet Pavlik is ducking Abraham like he should've been ducking Bernard Hopkins' right hands.

Bernard Hopkins faced his #1 contender in Taylor, Jermain Taylor faced his #1 contender in Wright and Pavlik, why won't Kelly Pavlik face Abraham? The answer is because Pavlik is a fraud and a disgrace and until he faces his top contender, it will stay that way.

    :good

they will fight in the future. You talk like jermain never ducked anyone. Edison Miranda were calling taylor out way before he fought pavlik and what did taylor do? He waited till pavlik KTFO miranda then lose to pavlik the same way miranda did. KTFO in the 7th round :rofl

Kassim Ouma and Cory Spinks were jr middleweights. He fought those guys while miranda was calling him out

A lot of fighters called Taylor out -- he was the middleweight champion of the world. But you had to earn a shot at facing Taylor, which is what Pavlik did. Miranda's sole claim to fame at middleweight was getting completely outboxed by a broken-jawed Abraham and then getting brutalized by Pavlik.

Your thread was good until you took a shot at Pavlik at the end for no reason. I do agree though, he didnt have to fight Winky and he did. The Winky of 06 would've UD'd Pavlik in his sleep.

After beating Taylor twice, Pavlik took on Hopkins with disasterous results. Besides fighting his mandatories, Kelly is getting nursed back to top form. Taylor did take on tough challenges in Wright and Hopkins, but the thread starter is just a bit over critical of Kelly, and obviously has a anti-Pavlik bias.

I don't have a problem with Pavlik as a person. I have a problem with how he's conducted himself as a champion. I already stated that Pavlik earned his shot at Taylor and knocked Taylor out because Jermain gave his #1 contender a title shot.

It's a shame that Pavlik won't do the same to his consensus #1 contender in Abraham.
