    hi guys
have any of you's trained there? what would you say seperates it from other gyms, or what does it specialise in?

the two things i like in a coach. are 1) he understands and teaches defense. 2)he has to coach before, during and after the sparring (constantly shouting advice, if you do something wrong he will stop the spar and show you)

im thinking of travelling a fair abit just to train there but some feedback from you guys would be great.
    thanks!

I heard something like no weights at all and very little if any upper body training.

Ingle style is probably one of the best styles there is...

    'Hit and dont get Hit'

It's all about coming in smashing your opponent with a combination and getting the feck outta there. Naseem in his day was amazing at it... but there were others such as Herol Graham, Clinton Woods and my personal favourite Junior Writter...

How do you hit and not get hit...? It's all in the feet... i.e. no real upper body stuff. It's all foot based co-ordination drills, i.e. having to learn the lines before you spar... Naseem was the best Brendan ever had at the footwork drills... look at the level he reached and in his day how hard he was to hit and yet how quickly he could hit people.

Graham, Witter and Naseem are all blessed with superb reflexes. No matter what style they employed, they woulda been hard to hit.

A lot of other Ingle fighters have been KTFO and Woods ain't exactly a superb defensive fighter either. In fact, his style is more like, hit me three times, I'll try to hit you once.

the ingle gym is constantly moving switch hitting and shoe shining, i think they must be good trainers as all their fighters are excellant defensive fighters the onl thing is they tend to keep their chins high

Personally, I am not a fan of the Ingle style. Imo it is far to reliant on fighters reflexes, for example, look at Naseem Hamed. Given Hamed's unbelievable natural abilities, and a 'proper' coach, someone like a Roach for example, and you would be mentioning Hamed as one of the greats instead of a wasted talent. You could even look at Jon Thaxton, another with tremendous physical abilities, but he is clearly held back by his style, which is very unfortunate.

When you look at the best fighters that came out of the Ingle gym, you see that they are all nearly men, when given the attributes that many of them had, they should be held in much higher regard.

Nothing. Ingles successes are very talented fighters who are fast, agile, quick, powerful and tough. His specialises in making fighters awkward. Without the talent they'd fail badly. With the talent they can look spectacular but also sloppy.

Herol Graham says it is him who changed the gym. Prior to him all boxers boxed orthodox and traditional but he came in and Ingle went about changing everyone.

This is a fair point. I believe that if you stick to an orthodox style, but have the ability to change things if needs be is a very good option to have. Although I don't like the ingle style, there are certainly parts of add that you could add to youe repetoire to give you more options come fight night.
