i think jermain takes too much heat for his reign as middleweight champ, people talk like fighters never fight a guy moving up in weight, all 3 guys were very good at jr middleweight, all 3 were southpaws and winky and spinks are difficult too look good against.you can discredit anyones wins if you are looking to,like this guy is with pavlik.
i still think aa vs pavlik will happen this year.

what a ******ed thread. Not only did pavlik ko taylor but talors first championship through his last were not even really wins. He lost the first hopkins fight should never have got the title the second fight was a pickem and the winky fight anyone that watched it knows that talor lost. Also as bad as I hate to admit it many people thought that spinks out boxed taylor, so you must work for the hbo cheerleader squad that invented the phoney champ taylor.

Dude can you read? Is not about Pavlik beat Taylor twice, it's about PAVLIK TITLE DEFENSES in which he has twice but was against 2 c minus fighters. Taylor 4 not 3 were very difficult title defensives in Hopkins rematch, Wright, Even Ouma and a very difficult to look good against Spinks. Hell take away title defensive of Hopkins rematch and Wright. Ouma and Spinks are way better fighters then Lockett and Rubio.

yea i can read but the T/S is putting down pavlik's accomplishment when pavlik KTFO taylor in their first fight. Pavlik had to fight those guys cuz it was mandatory. Middleweight is weaker now cuz most of the top boxers have moved up in weight-B-hop-Miranda-Taylor etc. So it's not pavlik's fault he is fighting lesser opponents.

At least 4 rounds that is. Arguably 5. Not mentioning some rounds that could've been scored even if it took place in a country outside Germany.

I just kept a running score in my head, but had it 3 or 4 point margin at most including the pushdown.

The colossal beatdown Pavlik took from Hopkins makes this whole argument pretty weak. If Taylor had gone up to 168 or 170 and been completely shut down, HBO wouldn't have given him Winky in his next fight. The situation Pavlik finds himself in compared to Taylor is just completely different. Apples and oranges.

Assuming both parties sit down and start dealing in common sense, Pavlik - Abraham will happen eventually. Most sane fans want to see it happen. Until then, there's not much point in blaming Pavlik for ruling a weak division. It's happened before, it will happen again. Moving to 168 wouldn't be a good career move at this moment, so why rush it?

Taylor fought a great slew of opponents. He also wanted a rematch against Wright and it was agreed upon, but Winky as usual pulled out.

There's a difference here between promoters. Dibella didn't protect Taylor and wanted him in big fights for big money. It worked. To this day, Taylor has rebounded from two defeats and is going to get another good payday against Froch.

Pavlik, meanwhile, is starting to fight no-names off of the TV networks. Arum is mis-playing his hand, because he is sucking the sizzle out of a very hot fighter.

I don't blame Pavlik so much as I blame Arum, and in truth there isn't a whole lot happening at 160. I just wish Arum would put his finger in the wind and try to satisfy the public a bit more.

Lockett was a WBO mandatory. They're not famous for enforcing their mandatories. Pavlik didn't 'have' to fight him nor did he have to fight him at the time he did. Lockett was part of a shortlist given by Arum to HBO and was selected by them as the most attractive opponent.

Either way, there are no more mandatories needed now. Pavlik could fight Abraham next which would make his first three defences not too terrible. Or he could fight Mora which would mean that his first three defences might well be the weakest of any major beltholder in history.

Have you heard of the concept of a mandatory bout?

Did you know that Pavlik beat Taylor twice?

    Obviously not.

Yep,on top of that the rematch with Taylor was a good, legit fight. It just wasnt for the title, but Taylor is still an ex champ and formidable opponent.

    LOL.

So is Mora a mandatory bout, too? How come Taylor didn't deal with any of these mandatory bouts?? Oh, I forgot. It's because he decided to vacate some of his titles to take on guys like Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright while Pavlik faces off against the dangerous Gary Lockett.

The fact that you say "Pavlik is ducking Abraham" just shows how ignorant you are.
