Taylor might be the faster fighter but whats sometimes overlooked with Froch is his timing. He has exceptional timing and great shot accuracy and can catch his opponents with a variety of punches that are nearly always deceptively powerful. He has a size advantage which will make it difficult for Taylor to establish a rythm. If Froch lands hard and early i believe Taylor will become reluctant but he wont mix it up like Pascal who made it difficult at times.Froch will land enough clean, quality shots to take the DEC for me.
Jermain Taylor doesn't have Shane Mosley's aggressive or power. Plus I know Froch's defense isn't great by any stretch of imagination but it's a damn sight better than Antonio 'Manos De Plaster' Margocheato's.
I'm as neutral as anyone in this fight, I think Froch will win, going to be a tough fight but he will do it. And yes Froch is sound guy, hes been made to look bad by Calzaghe fans and yanks but that makes up a large amount of boxing fans. But come on Frochy............and taylor.
The bottom line with JT is that whilst he's good at fighting, he doesn't actually like it. Froch CAN be outworked but he has a big punch and granite chin and will definately bring plenty of heat to Taylor. If Taylor really really wants it he may be able to outpoint Carl, but i suspect Froch will win this by stoppage. NB I hope to make the trip to see this one:happy
man,if lacy can put him down wait till carl throws him a hook he'l falter like 50p/cent would in taking etiquette classes.. sorry to say it but this is another spank for a yank! Froch actually didnt fight his normal fight against pascal, he's never had to really brawl like that, yet he showed he could. Thing is, froch can box his normal fight against a less agressive fighter like Taylor. Froch inside the 12
I expect Froch to be down on points before landing something nice and finishing it after round 9. The thing is...Froch actually has under-rated boxing skills. When he actually started boxing behind his jab (rounds 9-11 I think) he was able to close out the Pascal fight quite comfortably.
You say Lacy put him down as though Lacy actually hit him with a legal shot, as though it was actually ruled a knockdown, and as though Taylor let it affect him the rest of the fight. Or even as though Lacy is a feather-fisted guy who shouldn't have been able to hurt Taylor. And, "Lacy put him down so Froch will beat him," is your analysis of the fight? Pretty weak and desparate, don't you think? And then you make excuse for Froch... "Oh well he doesn't usually brawl, Pascal drew him into it." Did you watch the fight? Froch jumped on Pascal at the opening bell - HE is the one who tried to turn it into a slugfest from the beginning because he thought he would KO the chinny Pascal. For a guy who calls himself Socrates, you're saying some dumb ****.
I give Carl credit for his jab in the later rounds, but all things considered, Pascal wasn't doing ANYTHING... he was completely gassed... and in the few late rounds when he was active, he was effective without much difficulty. So while I give Carl credit for using his jab, I can't help but point out that it's easy to take rounds off a guy who isn't fighting... and it's not that the jab was keeping Pascal away, as he was actually slipping it a lot of the time... he just wasn't throwing anything.
Froch tires opponents out with agricultural tactics early in the fight and when they're gassed and abandon their game plan to conserve energy, he starts boxing in orthodox fashion and ends up beating them at their own game. He did that with Pascal. Slowed him down to a pace more to his liking and then boxed his fight. He'll do the same with Taylor. Taylor will try and get him out of there when he finds that he can tee off on Froch quite easily in the early rounds, but he will gas and start thinking rather than doing, allowing Froch to swing away without significant punches coming back.
Froch reminds me in many ways of a prime Eubank. Both have that awkward style that not always pleasing on the eye but is effective at throwing off their opponents rythmn allowing them to pull away down the stretch.Froch appears to have Eubanks robustness and judging by the Pascal fight his wiskers too.
