I literally mean, 100%. Or is there always a legitimate reason/excuse to take a certain amount of credit away from a win.

I.E - so and so was weight drained/too green/moving up in weight/not focused due to outside the ring activities/too old etc etc

Like you look at Hopkins and his best wins and straight away people will say that Tito/Pavlik not natural to the weightclass he beat them at. Tarver was weight drained.

In your own opnions, does this scenario apply to every win for every fighter?:think

    Trainer gets 10% credit
    Manager gets 40% credit

    Boxer gets only 50% credit.

from Fans? NO.. never.. because there are always people that dont like the fighter that won and will find ways to discredit the fighter. Comes with the profession

like they say "you can't please all of the people all of the time, but you can please some of the people some of the time"

There'll always be fans of the loser with a take on the loss, but I think it does happen. I haven't seen any excuse making after Shane's beatdown of Margo. Pretty much full credit there. Similarly, Margo was pretty much 100% credit for the Cotto win (well, until the loaded glove stuff... but at the time...).

Yeah, it happens. Rare, but not non-existent.

NO, as long there are fans, who just dont like a fighter, they will always find excuses! Calzaghe is a good example for a fighter who will never get the credit he deserves! i can recall he only had 2 fights he didn`t look good in imo, against Bika and Hopkins

I think so, when it's earned.... I gave Pacquiao 100% credit for his win over DLH. I gave Barrera the same when he beat Naseem, and I gave Michael Gomez 100% credit when he lost to Khan.

Can't agree with this. Not saying they don't deserve credit but looking at ODLH's career it's impossible to award Pacman 100% credit with the win. He deserves a huge amount for jumping essentially 3 weightclasses and destroying a legend. But ODLH was obviously not at his best weight for that fight. He was no longer a welter and that has to take away from the win as good as it was.

The Barrera win was a great win no doubt but it's been well documented that Hamed had lost his hunger and love for the game. He wasn't training properly and whatnot. Again, a brilliant win, but 100%? I don't think so.

I see your point, but your talking about the other guys, IMO it doesn't matter what shape DLH or Naz were in, if Pac and Barrera fought perfect fights (IMO they did) then they should get 100% credit, regardless of the opposition.

someone can always discredit a win. Just need some reasoning.
Me, I keep it simple. A win is a win. If you can't knock the opposition out there is no reason to whine about a loss. A fight starts in the negotiations and is finished in the ring. Do your best in every step of the way.

Don't try and take the high road on this question you lame duck...

It's a question and matter about everyone's opinion.

I said Darchinyan vs. Mijares was a great win and one I don't think anyone can take away from Darch.

I think the point of the thread is to find a fight where you can't find a reason NOT to give credit to the winner...
